The domestic speed gun readings are almost always slower than international ones. Zaheer, who normally bowls 130 k to 138 k these days, was generally between 127 k and 133 k in the last Ranji match that he played, even when he put in effort. Sreesanth looked lively in the last couple of bowlers that he bowled today. We all know that a lively Sree bowls atleast 137/138 k but he was clocking 130 to 133 k at that time today. There are many more examples. I think it would be inaccurate on our part to gauge the speed of a new quick based on speed gun readings in domestic matches.
bowlers dont put 100% effort on the pace every time he bowls in a match. zaheer was bowling at the 127 to 133 k in the recent int. matches he has played so according to your logic even the speed guns used in int. matches also screwed up na? so varun aaron's 153.4k is actually 163.4k right? sree never bowled at 135+ pace in all the macthes he played there are matches/spells where he bowled at 120s so what about that?

1) The difference in pace seems like 3 k to 5 k maybe and not 10 k as you are suggesting. 2) The lower speed readings maynot be present in every domestic match. 3) The young pacers trying to break into the national team or even the comeback aspirants , most of them are not giving 100%, this logic makes no sense at all. 4) Yet we see so few 137 k or more deliveries in domestic matches. Even the fastest balls are mostly 135/136 k. The same pacers have fastest deliveries of 141/142 k in internationals -- seems quite strange from team India aspirant pacers. Shami Ahmed rarely clocked over 136 k in many domestic matches, yet he rarely goes below that in internationals. Why would a new guy do that intentionally ? 5) This point is not something that can be proved with 100% certainly. But many people who have watched domestic matches for a long time definitely get this feeling that the speed readings in many domestic matches, though not all of them, come lesser by 3 k to 5 k maybe.

Iswhar pandey is 24. He is at his peak of his strength. I would expect him to bowl atleast 135+. I am bit disappointed. If he can bowl 135s consistently' date= he should play for india A team regularly.[
Why? There might be quiet a few who could bowl at 135s.. Do they all have to play ?

That was established when M Vijay got his 100 and reconfirmed when Raina got century :cantstop:
:hysterical: Now both of them will demand test positions based on their superb domestic performances :((

bhuvan
Dont think he will be picked for tests in India. Hope, they don't pick Sreesanth back already. Two of the Dinda, Awana, Shami look the plausible options right now.

If we have to take a medium pacer' date=' I would prefer Bhuvneshwar, as he can move the ball consistently.[/quote'] Ball will only move if he will get the conditions, not everywhere and with only new ball. I would have Shami making his debut.

Yeah, Shami ahead of Bhuvan for me. They are selecting before the BP 11 match, so it seems Sreesanth and Mithun might be in contention along with Pandey.

Not watching the match . If this is true we are in for a shock against Aussies. cris: "Mithun's bowling is innocuous. Pandey and Sreesanth are getting some movement, however little it may be. Mithun is just bowling straight from different angles on the crease. How can this preparation suffice to face Starc and Pattinson swinging the ball at 140k?"

Looks like pace department is going to be a huge problem now in Aus series. All rookies are lined up. I dont want Sreesanth and Mithun both have bowled poorly in this match. Pandey is steady, has bowled better line and lengths but is not much effective when there is no help from the pitch because of his lack of pace.
