The Outsider Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Hope' date=' they dont pick Raina based on this and forget his last consistent failures in tests. Rahane and Rayudu should be picked.[/quote'] Rayudu is not looking convincing against spin. That also explains his ordinary FC average I guess.
express bowling Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 They all are playing for that #6 position' date=' win or loss does not matter here for them. They do not want to get out.[/quote'] True. But I think the selectors would also look at the manner in which these no 6 slot players have batted. It is traditionally a position where quicker scoring guys are preferred.
saneindian Posted February 9, 2013 Author Posted February 9, 2013 Sehwag, Gambhir, Pujara, Kohli, Sachin, Raina, Dhoni, Ishant, Sreesanth, Ojha, Ashwin Reserve batsmen - Vijay, Rahane, Reserve bowlers- Bhajji, Jadeja Guess this would be the squad for 1st 2 tests. If Ishant is indeed injured then Mithun in place of Ishant.
rkt.india Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Rayudu is not looking convincing against spin. That also explains his ordinary FC average I guess. But we will have to pick the best of the options we have and he has looked better than Tiwary who is struggling against both. Rohit failed. 4 out 6 Aussie batsmen are not convincing against spin, but it does not mean they wont pick them. They will because they are their best options and Australians have average spinners too. Regarding Rayudu's low aver FC average. If you filter out, since his come back from ICL, his FC average has only gone better, must be close to 50 or over 50. Rayudu was a lost kid in early part of his FC career.
game_changerr Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 all the contenders of no 6 spot had a resonable good game,,,,,raydu, tiwary, raina, naayar,,,,tough time for selectors
rkt.india Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 all the contenders of no 6 spot had a resonable good game' date=',,,,raydu, tiwary, raina, naayar,,,,tough time for selectors[/quote'] Nayar scored 1.
game_changerr Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Nayar scored 1. bowled well in first inning on this track,,picking vijay and tiwary,,,top order batsmen wickets
Marut Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 all the contenders of no 6 spot had a resonable good game' date=',,,,raydu, tiwary, raina, naayar,,,,tough time for selectors[/quote'] A match like this should be played on a tough batting wicket, it will easily help separate the wheat from the chaff. It should not be played on a wicket where 500 is gettable. It should be more like a 300 wicket and if any one scores a century or a big fifty he will stand out from the crowd.
rkt.india Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 bowled well in first inning on this track' date=',picking vijay and tiwary,,,top order batsmen wickets[/quote'] but #6 is a batsman not a bowler.
namasteji1 Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Will Rayudu get picked in test team, or Raina who is the favorite of the captain?
Old guy Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 now 100 for rayadu and he has looked comfortable ..vijay was lucky in first innings
Lord Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Raina doing well too,he'll be picked.this is a patta so can't rate any innings too high
Old guy Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 true total patta..only thing we learned was rohit sucks
kubrickian Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 There is some bounce in the wicket and the odd one is turning. ROI should declare and try to get Mumbai out. Bhajji could prove he is still good enough to be picked if he is flighting the ball and bowling in right areas. He does well against left handers and particularly against Australia(they have lots of lefties in their lineup) and we have seen Ojha, Ashwin having problems against Cook and against other lefties.
express bowling Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Why didn't Dhawal bowl in the last 2 sessions ? Is he injured ?
saneindian Posted February 9, 2013 Author Posted February 9, 2013 Hopefully the selectors present in Mumbai ask Bhajji to have another go at Mumbai and show some bowling form. 400+ lead, one day to go, Sacin not likely to bat before number 7, let ROI declare and try and win outright.
