goggi Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 in the past 10 years (and probably through history), India, Pak, SL have done poorly overall in Aus, Eng, SA compared to the anglo-saxon trio of Aus's, SA's, and Eng's performance in Asian conditions. Aggregate: 0.26 Aggregate: 1.00 it seems the Aus, SA, Eng domestic structure is superior at producing players, especially batsmen who can play away and get them results in Asian conditions, compared to vice-versa where Ind, Pak, SL batsmen struggle miserably in Aus, Eng, and SA. it is rather sad (and pathetic) that solitary draw or win is celebrated despite losing the series. what do you guys reckon, is there a need for radical change in domestic playing conditions of asian sides, or better grass root coaching, or just mental block, lack of fight..? this poor away record also exist to an extent in ODIs too.
putrevus Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/team/2.html?class=1;filter=advanced;host=27;host=6;host=7;host=8;orderby=won;spanmin1=01+Feb+2003;spanval1=span;template=results;type=team;view=results this is the record excluding bangladesh and including neutral venues. And it is no different from Asian teams doing in alien conditions.Australia record is better but they had an all time great team. India's poor record is understandable , it took beating due to 0-8 otherwise it was respectable.
KeyboardWarrior Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 we (asians) needs to make pitches like aus, eng,sa in our domestic, if cant then send our domestic teams to play in aus, eng,sa more, thn our national teams :icflove:
vandokkum Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Not much of a surprise, Asian teams have always done terribly in SA/ Aus, never winning a series even against average sides.
NareshK Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Our record was dented because of 0-4 in Eng and Aus in 2011. Otherwise, it looked pretty decent in the last 10 years. If India continued its form in those series, record would have been as good as Aus or SA both home and away.
Ultimate_Game Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Before the 0-8 debacle, India had done pretty well since 2000. In fact India had one of the better away records in world cricket but that 0-8 set us back quite a bit
vandokkum Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Dhoni is probably the greatest captain in the history of the game, not even Steve Waugh/ Clive lloyd would have survived 8 test losses in a row away from home.
