Our domestic cricket speed guns Infact slow down bowlers by about 5 k. umesh clocked 152.5k against sl in an odi ishant 152.9k against australia in test they both have clocked 150s multiple times in australia tour umesh both in tests and odis and ishant in tests. they both have clocked 150s numerous times in IPL too. aaron's fastest is 153.4k in a list A match. i have seen umesh bowling 150k spells many times in ipl

So, they are always close to touching 150 k and sometimes they do.

Then he had the ankle operation and is not back to full pace yet. What has been your experience regarding pace, with Pak pacers touring Australia ? Most Aussie pacers bowl way slower when they are playing outside Australia. The speed guns especially in the last 5 years seem to show higher speeds like amir clocking 154k in aus at 17 :haha:
Vilander Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Umar Gul is also rhythmic bowler.he bowled at 147 to 149 against newzeland in 2011 world cup and even outpace Akhtar.but in South Africa he is bowling now at 127 to 137.average 130.very bad rhythmic bowler ever we ha yeah Gul is a bit like Ishant only a bit slower in his peaks.. they both suddenly start bowling 90+ one day and trundle the other day. besides, in Aus i suppose the speed guns are probably designed to pick speed quickest after release, in SL the speed guns probably are picking much after release so the speeds shown there are lesser always. Since speed is not read off the pitch there days there can not be much difference in speed other than the humidity which would make the ball soggy and give more friction. Currently Tino is up there with the quickest, Tait,Yadav,Morkel,Sami too.

Lethal Irfan Fastest bowl in Indian conditions is 149kph He has Good pace (Fastest bowler in world at the moment) Junaid khan Average pace Was 5kph more than Ishant In recent Odi series vs India Ishant Ave pace vs Pakistan in Odi series was 135kph (Fastest bowl 143kph) Junaid Ave pace vs India in Odi series was 140kph (Fastest bowl 147kph)

Clocking 150kph in Australian conditions is not big deal i can show u Video Amir bowled 152.6kph Bowl in MCG Junaid khan can bowl up to 150kph to in those pitches bowling up to good pace in Asain conditions is big deal Honestly i never seen Any Indian fast bowler bowling 145-147kph in Asian conditions

Old guy Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 There has rarely been an international match with Umesh or Aaron period. bit unfair on umesh..he got injured only now after playing tests in australia,ipl,tests at home vs new zealand,champions league some odis in between and one test vs england compare him to all other young fast bowlers even finn included and u will see he is fit these back injuries can happen aaron has been out for long time now hope he gets fitter :((

Infact there was a match where his quickest ball was 137 k. The 147 k was a freak ball. The second fastest ball that he bowled in the series was a good 4 or 5 k slower. Junaid's average speed varied between 133 k to 136 k in most ODIs. He is not a fast bowler but fast-medium just like Shami Ahmed. Both are good bowlers but they are not genuine quicks. Ishant speed was down due to the fact that he is recovering from injury. But it must be said that both he and Gul vary between fast and fast-medium. None are consistent fast bowlers. Irfan was bowling 138 k to 143 in the ODIs. That is very good pace for a 7'1" pacer but he again is not a near 150 k bowler. In most matches his fastest ball is between 143 k to 145 k.

Firstly, we are just talking about speeds here. Junaid and Shami are pretty similar pacewise, height-wise etc. Both are fast-medium. Secondly, you guys must understand that Junaid is not a living legend yet. He is bowling well recently and looks very promising but there is a difference between his actual stature and the stature you have created of him in your mind.

Umesh and Aaron have bowled 140 k to 148 k in almost every international and IPL match they have played in the subcontinent. Event Ishant has done it often.

You are right. Junaid just took 11/60 and outbowled Steyn who had figures of 2/96.
