fineleg Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Great knock by MSD. Did not expect it. Hats off :hatsoff: But there are still questions around his Test batting (notwithstanding this exceptional 200) - those can only be answered over time.
carnish Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 I wont say Dhoni is a good test batsman unless he has atleast 1 century for every 8 test matches he plays considering that he bats at number 6-7, its a difficult job for a batsman coming that way down but unless you can score one century in 8 games you are not good enough .. currently he has 6 100s from 74 games ... Its about a century in 12.2 games. Not good enough.
Jersey #10 Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Didn't sehwag hit like 300 in a day? Although Dhoni did it in tough conditions. pretty cool
akshayxyz Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Didn't sehwag hit like 300 in a day? Although Dhoni did it in tough conditions. pretty cool No. close to 300, but not 300+.
The Outsider Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Finally, Dhoni has an innings which can be ranked in the top 5 played by an Indian keeper. Brilliant innings.
SLICKR392 Posted February 25, 2013 Author Posted February 25, 2013 No. close to 300' date=' but not 300+.[/quote'] How about Bradman? Hasn't he scored 300 in a day?

saneindian Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 His ability to bat in Indian conditions was never in doubt and this innings only confirms the fact he should be batting 6 in India/Asia. His record outside the SC is still ordinary. Needs to play some good innings on our away tours, especially when the team needs it.
Asim Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 ^ at least put orig ones instead of copy/paste
carnish Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 he has six 90 plus scores too which are as good as a 100. Tendulkar nearly had 20 90+ scores yet we wanted that 100th 100. 90+ scores are good in context of matches but to be a great batsman ... you need to convert them into 100s.

Sidhoni Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 In other news Indore is reporting an unexpected shortage of tissues. If it was meant for me, I am not from Indore.

He does not have the technique to do that and I think even mentally he gives up some times in difficult conditions.
The Outsider Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 If it was meant for me' date=' I am not from Indore.[/quote'] Oh, my mistake. Somehow I remembered you hoping for a match in Indore so you could watch it. Probably mixed it up with someone else.
Sidhoni Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Oh' date=' my mistake. Somehow I remembered you hoping for a match in Indore so you could watch it. carnish Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 People wanted that? I didn't. Maybe you didn't but people did. Everywhere I went i only heard about his 100th 100. Even he admitted the pressure got to him and it was not because only he wanted to get it ... No, the pressure was of expectations.
kubrickian Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Its funny how some people say he has to prove in foreign conditions. Does anyone say when Clarke makes 300 in Australia or Amla scores runs in SA that he has to prove himself in India ? According to this logic, Ponting is one of the worst batsmen as he was miserable in India. These people follow logic that records in SA, Eng and Aus only matter and anything scored in India is not important. Nice brainwashed mentality.
