Ashwin was going no where with his action and even changed it in every match in the odis series and was trying to many things.Possibly he worked on the simple things like accuracy and offpsin in the break and went to his old action .The pitch was made for his type of bowling and most aussie batsman were not up to it.I always liked ahswin because he was a thinking cricketer and understood the game.Hopefully he evolves in to a good spinner .

His poor fitness is a worry. Dont know what phyiso and trainers are doing in the team.

let us wait for atleast 2 more tests before saying that he has changed his action/technique/body position etc.. I still think he bowled the same like the england series but was helped by the pitch and poor batting.. He got cook and trott cheaply in the 1st test but once they got adjusted to the conditions, they played him easily. his real test will be to perform throughout the series like wht bhajji did in 2001

Bhajji fanboys here seem all pissed with Ashwin's successes! :winky:
Are there any Bhajji fanboys left? :winky: Ashwin is definitely better than Bhajji, but I think Ojha is better than Ashwin, though Ashwin's batting can be a definite plus for him.

I am not sure whether Ojha is clearly better than Ashwin. Probably performance against England put Ojha slightly ahead. Before that series Ashwin had better record. Overall both have similar records in the matches played together. Ashwin 9 matches 54 wickets 27.35 avge SR 55.1 5-5WI and 1-10WM Ojha 9 matches 53 wickets 24.66 avge SR 59.9 5-5WI

avg of 24 and 27 is a big difference nad thats after ashwin performing well in first game before this match it was no brainer to select ojha

Its pretty similar when they play together ... ojha is a little economical and ash has a little better strike rate. Both make a good pair bowling together. *****y dhoni breaks their partnership for an oldy.

Ashwin's batting is a big plus for him. I would prefer them to play together and dont understand why Bhajji is in the team.

agree with that bhajji needs to go and our 2 best spinners need to play together heck even jadeja is much better than bhajji now a days and atleast he keeps one end tight

Won't you choose a bowler who takes a wicket every 9 overs over another who takes 10 overs, even though the former costs 3 more runs? Average is just a different scale to measure economy. Anyways, there's nothing much to choose between them.

Those averages given by VVVS were for the matches Ojha and Ashwin played together. Last match was not included in that.

:wall: sorry then well even still better average, better form and more accuracy no reason to drop imo

True. But we cannot categorically one is better than other. I would say Ojha will do well against certain teams and Ashwin will do well against certain teams. Both were complementing each other well. Then came Jaddu and Bhajji both upset the balance completely. Just replace Bhajji with Ojha. Jaddu is doing nothing special anyway. He was just darting best part of the first test. Replace him with Irfan Pathan as a seamer.

Strike rates do not tell you whether a bowler is economical or not, averages factor in both economy and strike rates.

like i said before it was no brainer to play them both.. bhajji needs to go ..jaddu to wont be needed as ojha can bowl more then bhajji and we need to play one more batsman dont expect dhoni to play such freak inning again..
