I know we have won but this win throws up more questions than a loss... 1) Does this Win make us any efficient outside subcontinent? 2) Does this add add on to the preparations required for the away tours of South Africa, England & Australia next season? 3) Would we have prepared this pitch had australia been armoured with someone with half of an ability of monty & Swann? 4) Dustier than a Dust bowl and only one spinner could make an Impact? 5) Sighting Australia as a weak opponent against spin, a make shift arrangement of getting back to winning ways, isnt it? Yes it wont help us become better team away but that doesnt mean we should change the nature of pitch. To do better away you need better players. Did England prepare dustbowls in their home ground to do better in India? Nope Home series' isn't a place where you make a team to do better abroad, every team goes in with the attitude of winning the series, so pitch does come into play as you play to your strengths not to your opponents strength.

lets stat winning consistently at home first

Lets try to win at home at least. This was not as bad a pitch as made out to be. Only 2 or 3 Aussie dismissals were due to the pitch. Yes, we got away with some crappy selection due to that crazy innings from Dhoni. The best spinner in India (Ojha) was kept out and the worst darter was selected. We should have picked a legspinner too in the squad (Mishra/Chawla). The Aussies will come back strongly in the next test. Hyd traditionally is a flat, low, slow turner. Wont win there with one and a half bowler. Regarding SA tour, lets hope that Yadav, Aaron, Zak etc get fit by then and bowlers like Shami Ahmed get selected. Our batting is still crap.

We need fast bowlers who can bowl fast and accurately. Hopefully umesh and varun will be ready in few months and make a good impact in south africa. I am only worried abt our opening batsmen. Our middle order batsmen are very good players of pace.

We knew this after the England series was over, no one expected a complete turnaround in all respects. The short term goal should be winning this series comprehensively, there's no point talking of Dec when we got 3 home tests against Australia in the coming weeks. The lack of quality spinners in the side and other short term issues are relevant.

You could look at this win in another way: We won the test match in little over four days by a massive margin: 1. Even though our pace bowlers contributed nothing. 2. Even through our openers contributed nothing. 3. Even through we had a couple of drops and decisions go against us. That leaves a lot of room for improvement. I don't think India are close to being the team they were, but it's nice to know at home, playing at 50-60% of our best we can still beat Australia! :)

He kept the pressure on, rarely bowled any lose deliveries unlike Bhajji which is as important as taking wickets. He was denied several LBW decisions if you actually watched the match you will know that. He could easily have had 7-8 wickets in the match. He still had 5 wickets in the match which is a good return.
