Irrespective, the manufacturers do not understand the issue with currency exchange rate India faces either. Recently, Apple has been making some (but rather unsuccessful attempts) to solve this problem. Samsung Galaxy S3 is now available at 27,999 INR.

Samsung Galaxy S3 is now available at 27,999 INR. thats bs i can give u example of nexus 7 ..it was around 199 in us but was selling at 20000 in india even after duty at max it should have costed around 16000 but they just sell it at higher price in india with apple if u buy non contract phone its expensive even india but in india by indian standards it too much..but other companies are cheaper in usa and other countries but are just as expensive as apple..which i honestly odnt get why ? s3 has gr8 price now.. but now s4 is coming out very soon and it will be priced at 40 k too im sure

Therefore, Kindle etc. would sell around the same price. Also, notice that the higher the base price the more higher the duty.

(i highly doubt this ) its just wrong pricing in india considering the economy few years ago prices were more realistic like price of galaxy s3 now should have been price at start.. now every generation is adding 5000... galaxy s4 will release at price of iphone 5 im 100 percent sure htc one might be even more expensive!

They have to - that's the reason Dell Inspiron laptops were cheaper than they were before because they had a factory in Chennai. Basically, this is to encourage local manufacturing. India is not unique to such policies most nations do it. I know Brazil is another country which adopts that policy.

I know Brazil is another country which adopts that policy.[/quote'] but most of these phones are not made in australia or usa maybe its more but still not enough to double the price :) with nexus device or even kindle i get it.. maybe india just does not have market for there app stores and most content is not avalible but already full priced devices should never cost so much more in any country.. im pretty sure duty is not so much i will try to verify it today
