Has to be the one by Dhawan and it's not over yet.
Nah, on Indian flat pitch and weakened aussie attack? Nah. SDhawan century is very good, but won't be the "best" ever debut 100 by Indian. The ones made in SA and Eng were against better bowling attacks in tougher conditions.

I have no idea about 100s before 1980. But Azhar's 100, Ganguly's 100 memorable and delightful. Amre faced a very good attack so was Sehwag. Infact India was in a corner when Viru joined Sachin.

Just because they were in SA, Eng they have to be "tougher" conditions, right ? There's no way any track can be good for batting there.

even though this is one a flattish pitch against a poor attack in the conditions i will go for Dhawan. Its the pace at which he scored the runs and hardly a slog in there.

That was a tough pitch to bat on.

Sehwag's 105 will be most popular. Lala Amarnath's debut 100 , the 1st test 100 ever by an Indian will perhaps remain most important.
Lala's 118 will always have historical significance as it turned out to be first century for India as well.
