oneANDone Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Always bat way down the order... either LOC/Test... Never takes any credits for his contributions... (Something he has to learn from Koli/Doni/Tendu) Positives- Excellent team man Excellent Fielder Excellent timer never die attitude no on field dramas best in handling pressure... (Just par with captain though) Always fit Always give his 100% Negatives 2011 England test series(brutally exposed to swan and pace bowlers)... earned so many haters...(w/o that series he avgs 48+ in tests) The way he getting out... (especially cross batted shots) despite debuted in 2005.. this guy yet to learn to showcase himself like others... (he has to do some on field dramas... funky faces... should cry when we loose... then people understand his desire to win) Most of the time he getting out with same shot... its very irritating to see... Though he have lot of negatives... this guy posses some little positives... Should this guy eligible for blooded into Test XI one more time?
I6MTW Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Suresh Raina is an all time LOI legend but for test he is not cut out for.

Suresh Raina should learn from Rohit Sharma, how to be mediocre and still have support of the entire nation. Raina is a hard working cricketer with great talent. He gives his 100% in all the game he plays. In spite of his test frailties, I prefer him getting more chances in tests than the "Most Talented Batsman of the century" Nohit Sharma.
Number Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Clown in tests who would have never played a test after SA tour in 10 if we had someone lesser than the greatest ever as a captain.
tweaker Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 After playing for such a long time,he should himself identify what r the flaws in his batting when playing in test.If he is not able to correct himself now,i doubt he will ever be.There will be vacancy in the middle order when Sachin Tendulkar retires and there is no left handed batsman in the middle order.
saneindian Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Raina back in the test side, AGAIN!!! BCCI @BCCI Injured Shikhar Dhawan ruled out of Delhi Test. @ImRaina included in the squad; @GautamGambhir misses out due to jaundice Team India for Delhi Test: MSD ©, Vijay, Pujara, SRT, Virat, Jadeja, Bhajji, Ashwin, Ojha, Bhuvi, Rahane, Dinda, Raina, Ishant #IndvAus https://twitter.com/BCCI  The BCCI-Rhiti mafia strikes again. Absolutely pathetic. So GG was the 2st option and when he was not available, they picked a middle order batsman!! In all probability expect Pujara-Vijay to open and Raina at number 5.

CSK Fan Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Nothing like that exists. Its Dhoni-haters conspiracy. Really?
Karan114 Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Why do these guys even keep up the pretense of calling it Team India? Why not call it CSK-Rhiti XI as what it really is? Absolutely disgusting and revolting that this complete waste of space Raina, who would not make most decent FC sides in the world, keeps getting selected to the Test team. Test average of 28 after 16 Tests and this loser still keeps getting a free pass into the Test squad. What a scumbag Dhoni is.
vamos_rafa Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Pujara would open and Raina would play. Rahane can go :fishing:
Crookbond Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Dhawan out, Raina in for Delhi Test http://www.espncricinfo.com/india-v-australia-2013/content/story/625820.html?CMP=chrome Suresh Raina has been called up to the India squad for the fourth Test against Australia as replacement for the injured Shikhar Dhawan, who has been ruled out for six weeks with a fractured left hand. Gautam Gambhir, who had been dropped in favour of Dhawan for the Australia Tests, was also added to the squad initially, before a blood test showed he had contracted jaundice, a BCCI release said. Dhawan had injured his hand while trying to stop a Phillip Hughes square drive during Australia's second innings on the fourth day of the Mohali Test. He did not field for the rest of the day and also did not bat during India's chase after having made 187 in his debut innings. ESPNcricinfo understands the selectors had discussed that the need for naming a replacement for Dhawan would arise only if the team management asked for it. Dhawan's fracture, Gambhir's illness and Virender Sehwag's axing after the Hyderabad Test leave M Vijay and Ajinkya Rahane as the only openers in the squad. Vijay is the only India opener to have played in all three Tests so far, with hundreds in Hyderabad and Mohali. Rahane is yet to play a Test but looks most likely to partner Vijay in Delhi. However, with Raina's inclusion as a back-up batsman, it won't be surprising if Cheteshwar Pujara opens, like he did in the second innings in Mohali, and Raina bats in the middle order, leaving no place for Rahane. :wall: The last of Raina's 17 Tests came against New Zealand in Bangalore in September 2012. He wasn't part of the squad for the four Tests against England and the first three Tests against Australia. He had an underwhelming Ranji season, with 304 runs in six games at an average of 33.77, although he did make 134 and 71 in the Irani Cup game against Mumbai last month. India squad for Delhi Test MS Dhoni (capt), M Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Harbhajan Singh, R Ashwin, Pragyan Ojha, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ajinkya Rahane, Ashok Dinda, Suresh Raina, Ishant Sharma In: Suresh Raina Out: Shikhar Dhawan
Raghav_12 Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 This is just unbelievable..!! CSK lobby is well on it's way to destroy test cricket.
cowboysfan Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 rahane should go to the press with this, its is simply unacceptable from the fatty and Dhoni.we are 3-0 and have to blood new cricketers but they refuse to give rahane a chance and instead pick useless cricketers like Raina.
vamos_rafa Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 BTW, Raina mentioned a few days ago that Gary Kirsten wanted him to open in tests. Have they picked him as an opener? :nervous:
