So in a way sitting on bench worked for him, he is maybe world's most popular non international capped player. Free publicity from Armchair captains on Twitter and forums. You fulfilled his wish, he must be now earning handsome amount in IPL. Had we played him a year or 2 ago, maybe he would have been done and dusted by now. There is daylight difference of standard in Indian Domestic Cricket and International Cricket where quality bowlers are on rise once again.
