Raghav_12 Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 add 2 matches vs NZ and 2 vs WI at home' date=' 1 match vs WI away too in the same period, so 10-10 in tests since WC.[/quote'] you yourself don't believe in what you post, isn't it? All serious debaters degenerate in trolls at times.
Number Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 As I said in another thread' date=' the 4-0 has left a good number of Indian fans bitterly disappointed.[/quote'] Why would Indian fans be unhappy with their own team's wins ?
rkt.india Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 As I said in another thread' date=' the 4-0 has left a good number of Indian fans bitterly disappointed.[/quote'] Even the biggest fan of Indian cricket would not have imagined about this scoreline.

rkt.india Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 you yourself don't believe in what you post' date=' isn't it? All serious debaters degenerate in trolls at times.[/quote'] what are you talking about? Read the thread from the start and then tell if there is still a serious debate here.
adi B Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Even the biggest fan of Indian cricket would not have imagined about this scoreline. theres a difference in 'imagined' and 'disappointed'..where has anyone posted he/she is disappointed with the win?

As for "NZ" being a weak team tell that to Eng,Oz or SL. Heck they'd have drawn here too if not for Dhoni-Kohli.
rkt.india Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 theres a difference in 'imagined' and 'disappointed'..where has anyone posted he/she is disappointed with the win? Sometimes, disappointment looms when things people cannot even imagine happen and that incident leaves a bitter taste for some of those people because they eventually missed an opportunity or two.
adi B Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Sometimes' date=' disappointment looms when things people cannot even imagine happen and that incident leaves a bitter taste for some of those people because they eventually missed an opportunity or two.[/quote'] huh? so in what context is ur post related to an indian cricket fan?
rkt.india Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 huh? so in what context ur post related to an indian cricket fan? It was not my post. Please look at that. Start a poll right now and ask how many here had imagined a 4-0 white wash in the last test series.
Crookbond Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Amit Mishra looked a class act when he bowled that match winning spell vs the Aussies all those years ago. I thought the series draw in SA was a great achievement, only just... and his unbeaten spell in series won/drawn...Test successes are superior to ODI ones, even WC wins. I voted for the No 1 ranking but in hindsight maybe those foundations were laid by Kumble. He just looked a good spinner to me - he didn't have enough variations and was set to struggle. Kumble indeed laid the foundations for the No.1 Test ranking. I read the start was (ironically) in Sri Lanka 2008.
Crookbond Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Well even if you include the "stronger" sides it's still 10-5' date=' [b']you can't ignore Oz when they lose bur not when they win. As for "NZ" being a weak team tell that to Eng,Oz or SL. Heck they'd have drawn here too if not for Dhoni-Kohli. Yea! I mean it works both ways. Just in case, it is yet not 8-0 for MS Dhoni it is 7-0 after all as the Adelaide Test match was captained by the Nawab and it led to a very different result - lost by 298 runs. :hatsoff:
Raghav_12 Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 what are you talking about? Read the thread from the start and then tell if there is still a serious debate here. well.. my point was that you simply can not even out an away loss against Aus or england with a home win against WI or NZ. So numbers which should be used in this discussion are 0-8, 1-10 or now we can use 5-10. I agree with your point that discussion hasn't been very serious in this thread.
SLICKR392 Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 No' date= but 0-8 could have been 2-6 if we had a better kaptaan. It could have been 2-5 if we had a kaptaan who was a wicketkeeper instead of a goalkeeper, and it could have been 2-4 if we had a kaptaan who could bat away from home. Now 2-4 doesn't sound too bad compared to 0-8, does it? Oh please ! The captain is responsible for the losses but those 0-8 wouldn't have been a 2-6 or a 2-4 if we had a different captain. If it indeed was a 2-4 or a 2-6 you would showed up with an other statement stating "..but 2-4 could have been 4-2 or , 6-2 if we had a better kaptaan.". and it could have been 2-4 if we had a kaptaan who could bat away from home When Dravid was the captain in '07 series which we won (1-0) he averaged 25 as the captain and Dhoni in the '11 series we lost (0-4) ended up with an average of 31. Your post is irrelevant saying the team lost because the captain did not perform, extremely biased statement. With just1 batsman (Dravid) playing in England in form with a horrible bowling attack, Dhoni's 50 or a 100 wouldn't have made any difference and looking at our previous keeper batsman record Dhoni has been exceptional. This is just plain hatred from you just like the fanboys rooting him for everything. But we could have made it 1-3 if not 1-2 or 2-1 in Australia as our best chance to win was in MCG, 1st test. I also agree he should have been dropped from the leadership after 0-8, doesn't matter he was the reason for it or not. Any country would have dropped their captain after such debacle blind folded.
The Outsider Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Like how we should bet on Dhawan and Vijay are test hack and Jadeja is a rubbish bowler or how Amit Mishra is a legend in the making . And u arrive at how we will perform in CT based on his performance in test series in England and Australia Did u get that software from china ? So Dhawan, Vijay, and Jadeja are legends now? Based on what? It's a long way to go for them. BTW, Vijay does not fall in the category as I was impressed by him initially before he ruined himself in IPL. I might have got quite a few things wrong, but have also got quite a few things right. I don't keep an exact count of the plus and minus of things, but maybe you do. How we will perform in CT is based on the notion that we got hammered in ODIs in England and Australia, not the performance in the test series. The team at the moment just does not have enough good players to do well in away conditions, tests or ODIs.
The Outsider Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Sure it does. 2 questions - Who was a better option? Anyone could have captained better than Dhoni, Saha could have kept better, but not batted better. And how did India achieve 1-1 in SA (best result ever there) with the goal keeper who who cant bat away from home? The result should have been 2-1 for India but for Dhoni and Bhajji's phattupanti against an injured Kallis.
The Outsider Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Yeah because winning World cup at home is a piece of cake. Ask that to England who hosted it only 4 times (first 3 in a row) and still failed And yeah it would be fun to know your thesis on how India won the T20 World cup in SA? Since Dhoni is crap away? or was that just an anomaly? T20 does not have a World Cup.
The Outsider Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Oh please ! The captain is responsible for the losses but those 0-8 wouldn't have been a 2-6 or a 2-4 if we had a different captain. If it indeed was a 2-4 or a 2-6 you would showed up with an other statement stating "..but 2-4 could have been 4-2 or ' date= 6-2 if we had a better kaptaan.". Uff! It's a manner of speaking to imply that the results could have been different and better if we had a better captain and keeper. Don't think any other keeper would have made any difference with the bat. But with better captaincy and keeping the results at Lords, Trent Bridge, and Melbourne could have been different. That is the crux of the argument and not the exact numbers which were written to add masala - how would I know what exactly the numbers could have been and in any case there is no way to verify them.
asterix Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Biggest achievement was when he became the Foster Son of Srini mama.. :agree:
