Most of Pakistan's recent leaders have been rather moderate in their religious views. Thats not to deny that religion has played a role in reducing an average paki's IQ.

And if Mr.Modi's intent is to sell Gujrat's credentials to attract jobs, then there is not much use talking to a performance artiste like Gingrich. He is a nobody in US establishment right now. He holds no official post in the US govt. He is not even a member of the House of Representatives. Even within the GoP, everyone hates him. He is part of that ever growing club of Republicans, comprising of other performance artistes like Palin, Bachmann, Cain, who throw their hat into presidential runs just to make themselves relevant. Of course, once the election cycle is over, they become irrelevant again. Four years later, the cycle repeats itself.

I hope you stick around on the site till next year - usually I don't gather much pleasure in saying "I told you so", but in your case I would make an exception.
