maybe cause you read through and did not have any answers? Does the probability of a chennai or mumbai winning the champions league increase or decrease with the number of Indian teams increasing or decreasing? The mathematical and scientific answer is no. Each team is judged as per its on strengths. How do you explain no south african team ever winning the champions trophy? Even as a ratio to their representation they have been poor.
No, genius. But the probability of an Indian team winning the Champions League increases with the number of teams taking part. Anyhow, you did not address two crucial points: 1. How many Champion Leagues have Australian teams won despite a poorer representation and the foreign player handicap? 2. What has been India's show in WT20 after IPL started to showcase the superior skills and tailunt in the league?

im no fan of the IPL, in fact i barely remember the results of 4-5 games over the last 4 IPL seasons. this season feels different though, i dont know if its because of fantasy cricket competitions or what, but i'm really enjoying the IPL. i have watched every single game and apart from the opening game, the cricket has been really entertaining. the pitches have had a lot to with it, they are offering help for the bowlers and all venues except hyderabad have had good crowds. hopefully things continue in the same way. IPL is going nowhere, whether ppl like it or not, might as well embrace it. one of the few times of the year when indian cricketers actually play like they give a ****. you won't see rohit sharma feeling sad when he gets out in some match against sri lanka, but if he misfields in a match against chennai super kings, the world is about to end.

I have no arguments on those points - I start to get concerned when crap like this is touted as the stepping stone for international cricket' date=' which is at a completely different level as demonstrated by India's 3 consecutive second round exits.[/quote'] i dont think the IPL was ever meant to establish india as a dominant force in T20. it was more of a financial initiative and nothing more. india's post 2008 record reflects the average quality of indian cricketers in the T20 format. that won't change with or without the IPL. india's batsmen have games better suited to the ODI than the t20s - nobody outside of sehwag or possibly yuvraj is capable of attacking from the first ball - and the bowlers are largely mediocre at best. you can't win in international t20 with slow batsmen and average bowling. for what its worth, many IPL stars havent even made it to the indian team. the valthathys, asnodkars, naman ojhas would never make a probables list. conversely, yuvraj does nothing in the IPL but still finds a place in the indian t20 side. the only ones that got a sniff are guys like yusuf pathan or a rahul sharma, and that can easily be interpreted as a desperate move to find a quality spinner/all rounder. selectors obviously don't think of it as a stepping stone for international cricket. cricket-related reasons for IPL's existence don't go beyond the idea of giving younger players a chance to share the limelight with international cricketers.

Quality of cricket is bearable. After all they are all top performers in domestic cricket with 5-6 intl players. What pisses people off is some crap bollywood movie promotions during the game, some no name serial actors coming in for bakwaas interviews while game is going on. That's for watching experience.. It has side-effects like players not taking test cricket seriously and not developing proper technique etc.

Why should that irk you so much? If IPL can be promoted on the very same channels (Sony, Star Plus, Star Gold, Movies Now etc) where the Ekta Kapoor soaps/ recent movies are released on TV, why can't the movies and the serials be promoted during the IPL? Perfectly symbiotic relationship.
