Is Unmukt Chand over-hyped or pure genius?

  1. 1.

    • Over-hyped. Decent batsman, but there are others who are equally good/better
    • Not good at all
    • Genius! Better than any other young batsman in India

His failure in IPL (so far) may not be a bad sign. May be he will make a good test batsman.
No matter what the format is if you are an opener and get out within the 1st over against a decent bowler, then you suck period

So he can either be a overhyped player or a genius, no middle ground?
Over-hyped. Decent batsman, but there are others who are equally good/better This option is the middle ground. He's already been talked about as a future India opener and is already on the selector's radar. None of the other young Indian batsmen have got as much attention.

So is Rohit sharma' date=' Badrinath and tons of other domestic giants. Once the ball starts moving around these guys will be exposed. Remember how Navjot Singh Sidhu was pwned by medium pacer Fraser with his movement.[/quote'] Rohit and Badri got their chances. Now it's time Singh gets his but knowing how things work he is probably going to rot in domestic cricket like Mandeeo Singh and Uday Kaul.

Badrinath too only got 2 Tests. BTW, Siddhu came back and had a decent career thereafter.

Which Singh? And Rohit, BTW, has not yet played a Test match.

Rohit is good when there is bounce but not much lateral movement. But movement? He hardly has a technique to negotiate that. Often plays away from body. A crime against moving ball. Badrinath has whole lot of issues to address before even playing against moving ball.

too young to judge I think we need to give him 2-3 years in domestics , ipl etc. He is 20 years old , lets not have an air of expectation about it.

I agree about Badrinath. Rohit, not quite. Even Sehwag plays away from the body, but has had a fairly successful career. Rohit deserves a chance in Tests, but that is besides the point of this thread.
