Some worse cricketers have been hyped here,this kid has shown some real spark .....he is not a slogger maybe that's why he has not caught the eye of some talent scouts here.....yes he does remind me of a young sachin.....will he have even 10% of that career I don't know,but the kid has the style and swagger about him

How many 18 year olds have done well in IPL ? This kid has talent. He has lots of time when he plays fast bowling, plays them very easily and packs a punch when he plays shots. It remains to be seen whether he will convert his ability to run scoring at least in the limited overs format. But its also not good to over hype him and put too much pressure.

Players these days are being bought in too late, e.g. Badrinath/Vijay even Pujara. They do not develop in domestic cricket simply get into bad habits and dont experience overseas conditions until too late to have a long career. More 18-22 yr olds like Samson need to be given chances

They need to do well in domestic cricket for even one year like Sachin did. Does anyone know how Sachin had done in Ranji, Duleep and Irani Trophy that year before going to Pak? Let Sanju perform even for an year in all tournaments before we talk him up!

Does anyone remember Manish Pandey? He was once a 19th year old boy and scored a hundred at IPL in SA. Everyone though he was the real thing and wanted him instantly in Indian National squad. Yet, today he is basically nowhere to be seen. (Pune bench)

Manish Pandey has a FC average of 50+. He can still be in the Indian team if he continues to perform like he is now. Just because Pune decides to bench him does not make him bad.

Early days yet and it's only the IPL, but seeing the 18 year old Sanju showing maturity beyond his years when he's at the crease reminds me of the documentary where Imran Khan talks about the time a 16 year old Sachin first went to Pakistan. Really hope he turns out to be good and gets a call-up soon. I want to see this guy boss the Australians at the Wacca, at the Gabba and in Melbourne!

Not sure about sachin but he definetly reminds me of Rohit Sharma....He seems to have quite sometime when he plays pace bowlers....SIX over the covers is the copy shot of sharma...Hopefully he doesn't go the Nohit way... More importantly he is a keeper. That should go his way for a quick selection in to the A teams and Deodhar's

I hope he grows into the keeper batsman India will need after Dhoni's retirement. I think he might find it easier and tempting to be a pure batsman but for the team its beneficial if he sticks to dual roles. He's not a spectacular keeper, but being only 19 should improve with experience. Somebody should mentor the boy to focus more on his keeping and take up the responsibility regularly in domestic cricket. But I have a feeling his Ranji team relies heavily on his batting and is allowing him to focus on just that. This seasons IPL did see him be a bit more cocky and attempt rash shots despite getting of to comfortable starts. But put in the spot to open the innings in a do or die match against MI, he impressed. Looked solid on the wicket, played delightful strokes and when required, carted the bowlers with aplomb!! He deserves to be in the team to Bangladesh. I pray success does not get to his head and he remains the level headed and astute player he is at the moment.

Haven't seen him bat much but hope he doesn't turn into another rohit who looks great on song but & is rated highly for some reason but has very little to show even though he's been around for a long time.

Its a positive step by BCCI to give this kid a chance early. India needs to work on a keeper batsman and have a solid alternative to replace Dhoni when needed. Hope Samson doesn't muck up the opportunity.

Those who compare Samson with Nohit Sharma must know that Samson is not a lazy ass like Nohit. He is a terrific athletic. Nohit is lazy and his attitude sucks. Samson is exactly opposite. Nohit Sharma even as an youngster was a lazy guy.
