He has a couple of 90's and 2 100's in Australia (next WC venue). He has shown he can perform in big occasions in 2 World Cup finals where he got big scores. He should be in the teams long term plans until 2015 WC at least. Performed well in IPL too which selectors seem to be giving alot of weightage to (Vinay, Mishra, Karthik, Rohit)

lot of unnecessary gripping(as usual).people are ok with penciling vijay as the opener in SA tests but dont want him in england? surely its a great evaluating tool to see if he is a total FTB or whether he can adapt to damp English conditions.

Err, that would be because people rightly think a tournament is not the place to check if someone's a FTB. A tournament is meant to be won. If the goal was to see if Vijay is a FTB then he should be on the plane to SA with the A team.

the last time i checked Vijay was scoring multiple hundreds against the aussies,what has changed suddenly,please dont bring up ipl crap because that is irrelevant to the big picture. Gambhir's technique is broken and its better he prove his worth in the india A odis and tests in SA.

The problem is you have benched him for nearly 15-18 months and then for a tournament like CT Vijay gets picked who hasn't even played ODIs in 2 years. Rahane did well in England last time in the chances he got and should have been preferred ahead of Vijay for sure.
