We fans cant really understand their passion because we are not in their shoes. They have given their 20+ years to the game. Their life to this game. Everyone has their own way of expression and different people have different yard sticks. I wouldn't for hell call any of these jazbaati or whatever. He was asked a question, he gave an honest answer of what he felt. Jazbaati or not it hardly matters; because you, me or anyone here on ICF is not in those players' shoes. Let us allow the players their freedom of expression and I see no reason for any criticism to any player's expression of such an incident.

He's entitled to his freedom of expression, and no one should stop him from saying how he feels. By the same token, once he speaks those words, I am entitled to my criticism of his words. And you are entititled to criticiize my criticism ... and so on :-). Bottom line: I am not saying that he committed a crime; just sayiing that the bereavement comparison is over the top. It does not take anything away from him as a player, mentor and person. We all f-up at times - this is a minor f-up on his part.

He is a fighter.

As a dedicated and passionate teacher, I feel extreme joy in my students' successes, and sadness and betrayal when I catch one of them cheating on an exam. But the day I feel the same grief over their cheating as I did when my father died, it would be time to reassess my priorities.

Just as an example to prove what you're saying - James Anderson made his debut under Nasser Hussain and he still keeps an eye on him. In Hussain's own words, you feel very satisfied when bowlers whom you picked go on to perform well. So, it works both ways.

That's what people do - provide opinions based on one's experiences. It is not about extrapolating my way of life to anyone, or denying him the right to express his feelings or anything. I am living and letting live - it is not like I am asking for him to be charged with a crime :-)!! Having been through 2 bereavements in my 20s and 1 more recent bereavement (my F-I-L), it was bewildering that someone would equate that grief with the grief of betrayal by a team-mate. That is all. Of course, I can be criticized for parsing his words too literally. And that's cool, too.

But the day I feel the same grief over their cheating as I did when my father died, it would be time to reassess my priorities.[/quote'] A student cheating in an exam is a betrayal of himself.A person acting against the team interest when everyone is putting their heart and soul into it,while acting like he is working for the team is a much bigger betrayal.Besides it was not just betrayal ...it was a black mark on the entire team.It is like someone in your family commits a heinous crime and all fingers point at the family.
