vvvslaxman Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 To be honest' date=' that shouldn't matter. When Dhoni started as a captain, his place himself was not secured. But he turned out to be a great captain and the added responsibility only made his game better. That's they key characteristics of being a good captain.[/quote'] Let us make Agarkar captain as he won Ranji trophy :giggle:
someone Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 Let us make Agarkar captain as he won Ranji trophy :giggle: Who knows, maybe Agarkar would have been a good captain for India? But, he is nowhere near the national team as compared to Sharma whose been in squad more than not. But really captaincy is an issue which is full of possibilities. We need choices and Rohit definitely has increased our choices.
Sidhoni Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 His captaincy was no doubt good. Much better than Virat. But as far as Indian captaincy goes, he is far behind in the race as his place is not secure. Dhoni sucks as a t20 captain and WK-Batsman and must leave the team. I don't mind Virat captaining T20 team if Dhoni goes. I can understand why you want him to leave captaincy after 3 B2B WT20 failures. But leaving the team? Hell no. He is still the best finisher.
zakk Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 I can understand why you want him to leave captaincy after 3 B2B WT20 failures. But leaving the team? Hell no. He is still the best finisher. yeah Dhoni is best and he will prove that again :nice:
Lord Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 I can understand why you want him to leave captaincy after 3 B2B WT20 failures. But leaving the team? Hell no. He is still the best finisher. in ODIs and IPL he is.but in intl T20 inexplicably he hasnt performed the best.his Int T20 SR is just 115 compared to 134.many times he leaves too much to do.his batting has also cost in T20 WC campaigns

More than the lack of hitting skills, it is this self-imposed consolidation mode that hurt his T20 career. I think he should bat just in the last 3 or 4 overs where he can go hell for leather not before that. It is commendable he transformed his batting since he took over captaincy.. But in T20 it is not working. Anyone who doesn't have short memory know what kind of a hitter Dhoni was when he entered the scene especially during the ODI series in Pakistan. He should go back to that mode.

He can relinquish his captaincy and enjoy the batting. He could probably hand it off to Raina or Gambhir. A fearful hitter all around the world.

vvvslaxman Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 which one will do better in CT? :hmmm: If Jaddu plays Rohit won't even find a place in the side. If he doesn't then Rohit will walk in. With new rules i doubt if India will go with just 4 bowlers in the absence of Yuvraj singh. But they also suggest going in with 1 spinner. That is where i am a bit confused. 4 seamers could backfire.
Jersey #10 Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 none! absolutely none of them...not captaincy material We haven't found our next captain yet. Hopefully some of the young guys like Buvaneshwar Kumar or someone step it up Pujara is too prone to injuries otherwise he would make an ideal test captain

In my opinion, different captains for different formats wont work for an Indian side. Might divide the team.... :nervous:
someone Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 :hatsoff: Raina had the temperament and the work ethics but his perennial weakness against shortball will haunt him as a leader... How ? Even Ganguly had his own technical weakness. Raina defiately deserves to be one of the candidates for the next Indian captain. He is well liked by both his team and opponents. That's essential in cricket.

Ganguly, even with his weakness was able to hold his place in the team in all formats. :hatsoff: Raina can be the future captain of the ODI n T20 teams, but if India goes in for different captains then we might end up like our padosan, especially with some big egos that we have in our dressing room. :nervous:
CSK Fan Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Let us make Agarkar captain as he won Ranji trophy :giggle: No, lets keep Dhoni captain till he is 90 years old
FischerTal Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 lets make dadaji kaptaan for SA.he has carried the burden for India for 20 years, its time we give him a good sendoff into retirement :isalute:
someone Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Raina can be the future captain of the ODI n T20 teams I agree with that. For Tests, firstly the players need to have at least +40 tests experience, in our current team, there doesn't seem to be any player (<26 age) with that. So the test captaincy can wait.
vvvslaxman Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 No' date=' lets keep Dhoni captain till he is 90 years old[/quote'] Sure if some guy can play till 90 year old why not someone else captain till he is 90 :cantstop:
