Muloghonto Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 You always talk rubbish. No bowler can whole day clock every ball over 95 mph. You say can't. I say can and I've seen them. So what now ? You are going to downgrade Marshall's speed to suit your make-believe 'video evidence worth 20 minutes total' crap-o-logy ? Arrogant and ignorant kids like you should talk less and listen more. Or is your 20-something kid brain the expert on fast bowling ? How many have you talked to personally ? or the batsmen ? do tell us. They could clock 150kph plus any time of the day they wanted. I have seen Actor clock 157 kph in test match at the end of the day against India in 2006. End of the day or not, Akhtar is not capable of hitting 150kph after 20-25 balls straight. Then he dips, then he sprays it around and then he gets removed for the attack. Ran out of gas, you see. Marshall, Holding, Thommo were capable of bowling at 150+ pretty much the whole day. They were exceptional in that regard. And dont say its impossible because of the speed- the speed is not a factor of super-human muscle strength/effort or such- mechanics of action, actual strength and balance of muscle, stamina, etc. all factor in. Some bowlers bowl at 140kph without breaking a sweat, some bowlers huff and puff their way to 140kph. Just because Akhtar looked like he was going to die after 3 overs and Lee looked like he was about to break something in his foot, doesnt mean every single bowler who bowled at those express speeds lacked stamina. Marshall and Holding were fit enough to run rings around Akthar and Lee. They might've even hit 160kph on the best balls in their careers (we shall never know) but it is generally agreed that they were in the 150kph+ category as a baseline. And they could bowl for far longer. Of that, the evidence is indisputable. You know nothing and you will be wise to keep learning if you actually are interested in fast bowling than pretending to know everything already.
Muloghonto Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Then most bowlers are chucker. Even Mcgrath. and chucking does not mean you can clock 160 kph. Err, yes chucking can improve your speed if you are using the mechanics well. Baseball pitchers chuck their way to 90mph on a pretty standard basis. adding body momentum to the chuck could improve speeds if done right. Not every chucker was a fast chucker. If you ever get the chance, talk to the real old folks about Charlie Griffiths. They figured out he chucked pretty much because his effort-ball was a chuck that came significantly faster than his normal balls. Then the umps watched him and it was confirmed.

Not every chucker was a fast chucker.[/quote'] You wont get that significant speed by chucking at 15 degrees. Do you? As ICC study showed 99% bowlers in cricket history chucked but not everyone could bowl 155k. No matter how much you chuck, untill you have ability to bowl quick, you wont bowl quick. It is like if I start chucking, I will clock 95 mph. I dont think I can even throw a ball at 95 mph let alone while bowling. You need basic ability to bowl fast. There are a lot of bowlers who are singled out as chucker, recently Aussie pacer Gannon but he bowls 130k even after blatant chucking.

Or is your 20-something kid brain the expert on fast bowling ? How many have you talked to personally ? or the batsmen ? do tell us. You watched them does not prove anything. You did not speedometers in your eyes. Neither other experts and players. So you cannot be sure what pace they were clocking. I bet Marshall would hardly bowl even one over all ball at over 150KPH let alone 30 balls in a spell. He did not have the action to bowl express pace. He was certainly fast around 90 mph like Yadavs and Styen's but saying he bowled 20 overs over 150 KPH at every ball is as ridiculous as anything can get. I can say that Thommo and Holding could bowl 95 mph but even they would not bowl 20 overs in a day at an average speed of 95 mph. End of the day or not, Akhtar is not capable of hitting 150kph after 20-25 balls straight. Then he dips, then he sprays it around and then he gets removed for the attack. Ran out of gas, you see. Akhtar could do that in his early days but later his fitness worn off and it is not just about Akhtar. It is for every bowler. I am not saying Akhtar would bowl at an average speed of 95 mph whole day for 20-25 overs. It is humanly impossible to maintain that speed like the fastest runner in the world Bolt cannot maintain the same speed for long distances. Even the fastest animal in the world Cheetah who is supposed to be stronger, quicker and more agile than human cannot manage to run fast for and you implying that these bowlers could do that and without any evidence. You are talking like you yourself have measured every delivery of them clocked over 150 kph. Generally agreed is not an evidence and does not always mean a truth. You can agree about yes they could bowl quick but saying they could bowl 95 mph 150 balls a day in a test match is ridiculous.
Gunner Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 What is Wahab's fastest so far? Pace is down from last match, 143 fastest.
Hur Rizvi Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Wahab's fastest today : 147.6kph Average pace was a bit down today. Bowled quite fast in his last spell
Hafeez Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Junaid khan 146.9 I wanted him to bowl at 148kph so he can stand ahead of Yadav Thought
Hur Rizvi Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Junaid's fastest : 91.3mph (146.9kph) Irfan's fastest : 145.4kph

Vilander Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 And how many test matches did tait play , i have seen akhtar and lee clock 155 plus in test matches , and in the case of akhtar in 35 degree heat , tait was a t 20 specialist . to put things in perspective akhtar was clocked at 96 mph in a t20 match against australia at 36 years of age , while consistently clocking 95 in the said game, tests are a different ball game altogether. . tait was fast but he cannot be compared to lee and akhtar . Tait wasnt particularly fast in the test matches he played and the less said about the current crop the better . Akhtar is the fastest of all time followed by thompson and lee . nope Akthar was slower than Lee on average. Dont know about Thomson. Tait is furiously fast in present day speedometers in which akthar clocks fast medium.
