It doesnt go well with his stature and he looks like a petty politician hungry for power. :agree: He should have waited atleast this month.

Sources said that Advani considers himself to be a top contender for the prime ministerial job owing to his long political career and contribution to the party for several decades. The leader was even ready to quit the post after six months of assuming office if a successor emerged to take it from there. Advani's second condition was to make Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi the convener and not the election chief in the party, the report said. It is ironic that the initiator of the first rath yatra is upstaged by a leader who takes positions even more to the right. BJP has to groom a leader like Vajpayee who can unify various allies and bring back TDP, BJD and possibly Trinamool, not go with a divisive leader like Modi who will alienate even existing allies like JD(U). AIADMK has already ruled out a pre poll alliance. Looks like the only ones who would be going with BJP are Shiv Sena, Akali Dal and some chindi parties

It's not Modi who is divisive but rather how he has become perceived as divisive. Despite, tons of arguments and factual, you still are stuck with that perception and the large part of media has contributed to it. The very idea that Congress and tons of other regional parties parties talk about "secularism" is a far bigger and real issue. It does not get highlighted and Modi challenges this very status quo and thus there is all this big conflicts.

Back Again Yeah Modi is the second coming of the Gandhi and Martin luther king Jr. You have a single point way of arguing on ICF. Dismiss any opinion to the contrary to your line of thinking as being biased by demanding unflinching evidence and taking anything which is in line with your beliefs as gospel and demanding others to accept the same "facts". When your bullshyte isnt bought by people, you bring some wierd analogy and create strawmen. When all else fails, there is always the option of whining. Modi is a divisive leader who will drive away potential allies from BJP. Anyone with a basic understanding of politics should understand this. JD(U), Trinamool, BJD, TDP, DMK will not join in NDA headed by Modi - the only consequential allies he could get are Shiv Sena, Akali and a remote chance of allying with JJ in a post poll arrangement.

Advani is a failed leader apart from his single moment in the sun during that Rath Yatra. during the ruling years, he was perfect as the mild Hindutva face of the party and foil to Vajpayee's more moderate image. After Vajpayee's exit, Advani failed miserably in his handling of the party and could not groom suitable leaders to take over the next rung. IMO he is the main reason for the state of the party today
