Which team has best Test future? Positives/Negatives

India- new fresh batsmen like Pujara, Kohli, Dhawan are promising. they will be tested on foreign pitches, but to me i think that there will be no more whitewashes in our away tours. In bowling department, bhuvi and umesh are okay for now, but i would really like to see mohit sharma and shami ahmed also be given chances. FFS get Pishant out :wall: Ashwin/Jaddu will most likely be our spin duo with Ojha playing the odd game if the pitch is a rank turner. Ashwin will need to reduce weight and become more athletic if he wants a future though. There is no way he will last 24 overs in a day if he doesnt get more fit. England- Joe Root is an exciting prospect, who will most likely be their Test opener in the future after he has a couple of Test matches done. Trott/Pietersen have atleast 3-4 years left with Cook, if he stays in good form, having atleast 7-8 left. Their pace department looks solid, atleast for now. However, spin department will be a worry as Swann doesnt have too many years left and Monty only fires in subcontinent. Australia- Oh boy oh boy. How the mighty have fallen. their bowling is the only positive for this hapless team. Patto is the most promising young bowler in international cricket whom i predict will average 21 for his entire career if he stays fit. the likes of Starc and Cummins will play second fiddle to Patto, but nonetheless will be dangerous. Spin will be a big worry. For a nation that produced a freak like Shane Warne, resorting to changing their immigration laws for a duplicate of Imran Tahir shows that the art of spin bowling is dying in Australia. In the batting department, its a sorry state of affairs. Watson and Warner are simply not cut out for Test cricket. Warner can score against lejund :hehe: but the rest of the world has made him their bunny. Australia will struggle atleast 4-5 years before some genuine Test batsmen come out of there. Pakistan- the bowling paawerhouse :hail: It is no secret that pakistan produces great bowlers, albeit with suspect actions. there is not too much worry here, although Junaid and Irfan did not have the greatest tour in South Africa, where conditions were favorable for them. Batting is their biggest downfall, just like Australia. Azhar Ali will do well for Pakistan, with Asad Shafiq also chipping in once in a while. However, the opening batsmen are absolutely atrocious, who only perform against weak bowling attacks. I dont have any knowledge about the other four test nations, so if anyone wants to chip in, they can. Discuss :cheer: PS: NO DERAILING ZAKK BEWARE :bigboss:

ok South africa in tests, i cant see any depth from morkel vilander and steyn. While all three of these guys should be around for 4-5 years more (atleast). Their replacements Totsobe kleinvelt etc are not upto the mark

South Africa has the best outlook for the next 5 years. They have, hands down the most stable & experienced core players who still have 5-7 years left in them. Grame Smith,Amla, ABDV, Steyn, Morkel, Philander are all set to feature in the team for many many years. Whats more, this core contains the captain, an opener, a solid pair of middle order bats and three bowlers. Their only genuine weakness is lack of a decent test spinner but thank God for small mercies because except for the stats-merchants, periods of long dominance leads to boring cricketing outlook, IMO.

England does not have a core as strong as the Saffies. They have batsmen galore but their bowling resources are neither as strong as Saffie and far less established. Broad keeps hovering around the frustrating to brilliant zone and is still a few series of implosion away from being dropped. Anderson is smart and all that, but he is the English Zaheer Khan, minus the reverse swing. Not Dale Steyn category. Swann is getting old and has 2-3 years left in him, Monty is not a good option outside the subcontinent. The issue isnt about which team will become Godlike or is the best right now, i think the OP is about which team has the brightest future. Well, in this regard, you dont get the mix of experience, youth, team balance and leadership better than South Africa. They have 3 batsmen who are 29-32 years old who are in the 70-100 test played zone. That is bonafide experience and youth hitting the sweet spot, if you ask me. They have 3 bowlers, all 31 or younger, one of them already an ATG, the other two both extremely good. Both Captain and VC are also from this group. Compared to the Saffies, no other team has a core bunch that have so much experience, youth and diversity at their disposal. (For eg, the brightest players for Paki core are bowlers. For the English its their batsmen. For the Aussies, its their bowlers. For the Saffies, its an excellent mix of batsmen and bowlers). You rightly pointed out a lack of spinner and Kallis's retirement robbing them of an ATG batsman providing competent 4th/5th bowler role. but then again, if the Saffies find a decent spinner (no need for ATG category, lets just say Ojha) and half a replacement for Kallis, they will be a shoo-in for an ATG team status.
