Lost his mother who could not get to see him don the Indian colors. Came in early with a bit of talent and could not live up to the hype. Became the subject of ridicule. This alone would have been career ending for many. Worked hard, came back stronger with his batting and bowling (fielding was always good). Now is a multi-dimensional player who could even have the chance of a decent test career. Humble, does not mind with the Sir thing. Takes it in stride. Wonderful attitude. I am sold on you,.....SIR! :hatsoff: I hope you continue to improve and success does not get to your head. Remember you roots, and you will be fine.

IMO Indian pacers need to be given more marks as they worked well in tandem. Ishant leaked runs but picked up wkts which did make a difference.

jj_28 Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Rohit - 7 (Asked to play a role he has rarely played and was the 4th highest run scorer in the tournament) Dhawan - 10 (Out of this world) Kohli - 7 (Started slowly but finished in style plus the dance in the end :hysterical:) Raina - 6 (Did well in the field but hardly got a chance with the bat) Karthik - 7 (Took most of his chances in the tournament but I will still like to see Pujara, Tiwary get a chance in this position) Dhoni - 10 (Amazing captain probably the best in our history) Jadeja - 10 (Great in the field, great when he bowled and just as good with the bat, amazing find for Indian cricket) Ashwin - 8 (Very good and played his part with Jadeja) Bhuvi/Ishant/Yadav - 6 (None of them stood out individually but they did very well as a pack)

Dhawan - 10 Kohli - 6 : Did well towards the business end of the tourney. Karthik - 4 : Did well in warmups but only flattered to deceive. Raina - 5 : For those brilliant catches. Dhoni - 9 : Excellent captaincy and wicketkeeping. Jadeja - 10 : Superb in whatever he did. Ashwin - 8 : Bowled amazingly well in the knockouts apart from his 2 wonderful slip catches. B Kumar - 8 : Kept the pressure with his tight opening spells and also taking out openers from every match barring the final. I sharma - 5 : Those 2 wickets turned the match, apart from that there was little good he did. He did get a MOM against SL but that was a bit undeserving IMO. U Yadav - 3 : Like Dinesh, flattered to deceive. After that wonderful opening spell against Aussies in warmups, much was expected from him. But he did get the important wicket of Cook in the final.
Precambrian Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Dhawan & Jadeja - 10/10. Can't really ask for more. B Kumar - 8/10 - Stats tell only half the story, but in apparently "subcontinental" conditions, averaged 21 odd with an economy rate under 4. Terrific stuff. Ashwin - 7.5/10. Slow to start but made up for it with excellent performance in the matches that mattered. Kohli 6/10 - Did not set the tournament on fire, but to be fair, didn't get that many chances to show his flair as the openers did largely the job. But came spectacularly good when it mattered. Fielding was superb as well. Dhoni, Kartik & Rohit - 5/10 - Dhoni was a flop show as a batsman, but his captaincy and excellent wicket keeping made up for it. (1/5 as batsman and 4/5 as keeper). Rohit was mediocre as an opener but atleast did not have brain farts within 2 minutes of occupying crease. Is not a long term opener for sure. Karthik impressed with his fielding and can't really fault for a couple of failures given how important was his contributions in the warmups in giving India the winning momentum and also his electric fielding. U Yadav 4/10 - Definitely made progress as a bowler, and wasn't half as bad as his stats suggest : 4 wickets @ 50 @ 5.55. But needs to be more disciplined and focussed. Ground fielding was good as well. Ishant & Raina - 3/10 - Perfect example of why stats are **** when viewed in isolation. Ishant's stats look shockingly good: 10 wickets @ 21 @ 5.73, but managed to nearly screw up when it mattered. Looked every bit NOT a bowler who has over 50 tests under his belt and is apparently the leader of the attack. Continues to be a liability on the field and inspire no confidence with his demeanour. Raina - stats say everything. Did nothing with the bat. Saving grace was his fielding.

Cricashfaq Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Rohit Sharma-- 5.5 (Improved performance as an opener with Shikhar Dhawan..Still there are more room for improvements) Shikhar Dhawan- 10 (Probably, the best replacement for Gambhir as an opener...Matured batsman) Virat Kohli- 8 (Finished off the tournament in style and did a fair job in fielding aspect) Dinesh Karthik- 7.5 (Did a very good job in the warm-ups but just didnt get much chance in the later stage of tournament) Suresh Raina- 7.5 ( Not much of chance in batting but his fielding was exceptional) MS Dhoni- 8.5 (Excellent captaincy and did a very good job behind the wickets) Jadeja- 10 (Excellent performance as an all-rounder especially in bowling..Leading wicket taker) Ashwin- 8 (played his role very well in bowling and his fielding in the finals was remarkable) B.Kumar- 7 (Did a fair job, could have been better) I.Sharma- 6.5 (Took wickets but conceeded a lot of runs) U.Yadav- 6 (Excellent pace but it is turning out to be his weakness as it is not used properly)

But yeah if want to support him cos of fielding give 5. But still had poor tourney

Had some chances to come in and unleash but could not. His position is under scrutiny. As his record in odis is mediocre, would he do well in 2015 wc? Needs to prove something
