fineleg Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 How many in favor of letting Umesh Yadav be Test specialist for at least 1 more year while he develops and hones his skills? Not everyone is good for all formats right away Giving him the time (or forcing him to spend time) exclusively on one format for 1 or 2 years will help him develop consistency in one format first. After that, depending on how skillful he is - try him for ODIs/T20s etc.
Ultimate_Game Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I am all for it. Umesh still doesn't have consistent control. Somebody like Sandeep Sharma could cover for him in odis.
Old guy Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 +1 Dale Steyn - style yep also he has shown one thing even in these odis if there is bit of help he will take wickets. he got cook too so better he concentrates on improving ths aspect and hopefully cntrol will improve as he plays more tests and makes come back in odis i voted yes but i can also understand what team management is trying .. they want him to be ready for next world cup.. also since now he is in team better give him proper run..right now ishant for me is bigger worry as he is literally useless and surviving cos of luck more than anything!
Number Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Let him play. We don't have any major odi tourney before world cup anyway so we can afford to give him a chance. He wont develope consistency by sitting at home. Also no of tests we play is quite less compared to other higher ranked teams.
gaurav92 Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 A wicket taking bowler, I will definitely love to see him in South Africa later this year.
maniac Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 +1 Dale Steyn - style Steyn is accurate regardless..... A rusty steyn will perform more often than not in a loi game but umesh is a spray gun.....till he figures out his loi bowling,he will always be a liability. The guy is real good in tests so far.
Old guy Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Steyn is accurate regardless..... A rusty steyn will perform more often than not in a loi game but umesh is a spray gun.....till he figures out his loi bowling,he will always be a liability. The guy is real good in tests so far. steyn was not accurate when he came .. anyway its not comparison with steyn but how south africa developed steyn they only used him in tests and this guy has only played 70 odd odis this way he remains fit and also is able to concentrate more on attacking.
bulbul Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 What if Umesh wants to bowl more in shorter form of games than in tests to avoid injuries :dontknow:
Old guy Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 What if Umesh wants to bowl more in shorter form of games than in tests to avoid injuries :dontknow: it does not matter what he wants ,he is no god :giggle:
bulbul Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 it does not matter what he wants ' date='he is no god :giggle:[/quote'] He can easily pull a muscle during a test match.
maniac Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 it does not matter what he wants ' date='he is no god :giggle:[/quote'] God earned that position :two_thumbs_up: But again so did nehra and Munaf :((
Old guy Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 God earned that position :two_thumbs_up: But again so did nehra and Munaf :(( those two were just not fit enough for tests..and munaf especially changed his bowling to suit odis more
rkt.india Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Steyn is accurate regardless..... A rusty steyn will perform more often than not in a loi game but umesh is a spray gun.....till he figures out his loi bowling,he will always be a liability. The guy is real good in tests so far. But not when he first came that is why his ER in tests is still pretty high.
NareshK Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 But the more Umesh bowls, the better he will get with control in ODIs. We need a bowler like him in ODIs who can strike and get wickets because its more important to break partnerships than anything else. He should play games as long as he is fit. He could be an important part of plans for 2015 WC.
Rob9 Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 i don't see him a wicket taking bowler like sreeshant was...when it comes to Test cricket
Rob9 Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Varun aaron is a better bowler.he should have been getting more chances
Old guy Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 i don't see him a wicket taking bowler like sreeshant was...when it comes to Test cricket what? u have to be kidding me here..yadav has 10x more potential than sreesanth .. wicket taker sreesanth still averaged over 30 and had 2-3 good spells thats it !
King Tendulkar Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Dont be silly. Can play both easily. Searing ball to get cook in final says it all
Sidhoni Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Umesh is not really made for ODIs. He should excel in tests with time.
