ODIs are boring

yes 7 ODI series too long...ODIs are very monotonous....9/10 end up one sided and we had 8 out of 10 t20 games really nail biting... I only watched 10 overs of Aussie innings and was busy with my day today life. I would have been glued to the tv if this was test match.... One reason I got turned off watching ODI today was coverage/commentery on DD... ODIs need major overhauling....may be 2 innings of 25 overs each could be really exciting....it will remove toss factor from the game.
Very true. That was the reason, I watched first few overs with TV on mute and preferred to watch a cinema in between flicking the DD channel. It was just aweful. Even if ESPN had reduced T20 to a 5 ball/over game, their coverage was much much better than this rubbish!

After my initial scepticism towards T20' date=' the thrilling matches in the WC changed my perception and now after watching this ODI (admittedly our team sucked, but I am sure that's not the reason), I think we should have only one format and that should be T20. Of course, test cricket for me is still the best and untouchable but what ODIs are meant to do T20 does much better, more so with the recent proclivity to make ODIs more and more batsmen friendly with flat pitches, short boundaries, and asinine rules. T20 offers all that with much more excitement.[/quote'] Yeh I know what you mean. I was never keen on watching tests or ODIs. But T20 makes cricket far better for stadiums and TV. Its now like football - I can see cricket going popular across thr world. Match lenght now more similar to football and stuff. Like baseball in America

^^frankly ODIs outside of WC are definitely boring. I haven't seen many ODIs fully since the last WC. Sure have caught some of the special moments like the 200*, but overall bilateral ODI series is about as boring as it gets.

I like ODIs, esp amongst top teams. What's boring is having too many (meaningles) ODIs and that too b/w sides that are not evenly matched. T20s are pretty exciting but then too much of it could take the sheen away. Ofc teams like Pak, WI, NZ, etc are perfect for this format. They have a couple of good guys with the bat and the bowl and sometimes that all you need to compete. These teams are also more likely to deliver and thus be more consistent in 20 overs than over a 50 overs game or longer. If the sides have depth in quality, ODIs would be more fun. If the sides are unevenly matched or stacked with unpredictable players than T20s would be more fun

I don't see why ODIs and T20 can't co exist. Close games in T20 don't have the same charm for me as ODI's. Yes most of the games are close, a six feels nothing special, and they all mostly follow the same pattern. ODI is the perfect mix between T20 and Tests and it should be the supreme format. Close ODI's get my heart racing more than close T20's, since the buildup is longer, and there's space for comebacks and varying strategies. Also I love watching super innings like 150+ scores from batsmen. In Tests its expected someone or the other will do that every other match but its more special in ODI's. So stfu, Tests>ODI>>>>Tontee
