Old guy Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 My bad. Thought we were talking about his bowling overall. i never wanted him in tests and u know that :P
G_B_ Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 or maybe people here over rated him after he got ideal conditions in first 3 series he played against sides who do not play swing well ? because he is still damn economical and i said this even before that he is not going to keep performing like this for long and that made MTC angry at me :cantstop: problem is see is he does not pitch the ball up much...it worked on tracks he got before with some seam movement and bounce but now he is just not getting tracks with juice and was dropped in south africa after one game so its not like he got fair opportunity . he is just about acceptable with his economy. Not damn economical. Look, now Bhuvi needs juice. I accept that. But he needs to start coming up with a strategy for picking up wickets at the death. Maybe he needs to perfect the art of a yorker. In the asia cup v SL Sangakara really skinned him during the final overs. He was all over the place. I actually think Bhuvi has increased his pace. He is he consistently bowling 130 plus. In fact in the Nz series what little i saw he was in the 135 zone on a regular basis. Might be wise for bhuvi to get back to his 125-130 pace and back himself. The extra pace is not working out for him.

G_B_ Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 why are you using ishant as the benchmark? He is a **** bowler. All i am saying is that if Bhuvi does not show more improvement over the coming 6 months he needs to IMO make way for Pandey. Pick up wickets. Simple as that.
putrevus Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Don't let the stats fool you. It doesn't take a lot of effort to break into India's top 10 or top 5 bowlers. How could you judge Bhuvan to Ishant when he Bhuvi hasn't played a single Test match overseas? The 2nd Test in NZ was an ideal wicket for Bhuvi. I am not judging anyone with stats, Ishant is like India's version of Siddle it does nothing above average but always runs in hard, Ishant's case he does the same up to Indian standards. He is kind of guy who captains love to have in the team as they fill in overs. unless Bhuvi somehow transforms himself into strike bowler he would not be a first choice new ball bowler .He played all five odis in NZ but never picked up more than wicket in any of them so how can you expect him to be picked up in test match. Bhuvi and Ishant are not competing for the same spot when playing overseas tests.

Simple as that. i agree but u need to see why i started discussing about him see post of puveris :winky: lets give bhuvi some more matches..i will try pandey as third seamer anyway and play aaron too by resting shami...but i am not willing to go back to ishant and co and will rather have economical bhuvan who picks one wicket per match than those guys :P in long run he obviously needs to improve but he seems to be smart bowler who has actually worked on his weakness in his short career and shown improvement he was always a limited bowler and i have maintained this from start but some times in odis they do just fine:two_thumbs_up: even get kulkarni in mix...is he good for odis ?

Is a wicket taker in ODIs but issues with leaking runs. I think Dhawal needs more time after coming back from an injury. So probably need to make a call after the IPL.
SLICKR392 Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Isn't Dhawal with RR this time around? Will get more chances to play.
Old guy Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 yes even i thought his bowling is not suited to odis..thats why i asked ..
putrevus Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 the day bhuvi goes for 30 runs in over..i will start comparing them till then there isn ot even a comparison and great ishant picking wickets is myth he has highest average for bowler who has played number of tests he has and has been utter crap other than few fluke performances maybe u need to stop comparing bhuvan with mcgraths and steyn and take him for what he is and that is very accurate swing bowler who rarely goes for more than 5 rpo which is very very valueable in odis and frankly i will take neither in test matches and i have made my position clear before but in odis there is no way ishant is better bowler and any one who has seen that dumb yeti in action in odis last few season will say same you want comparison ? ishant and bhuvi play together against pak, england and ct and bhuvan easily out performs him every time and same in west indies where ishant did not play i think but bhuvi did well then against australia ishant get raped so badly that he is dropped from team while bhuvi who has not picked wickets has still bowled economically after that ishant has been in and out of team and getting smashedi n every 2nd game he plays while bhuvi has been there bit ineffective but i still cannot point to one performance after which i would drop him even in this asia cup you cannot drop him. i would like him to improve performance but i am used to bowlers going to 15 rpo at end so its welcome change that shami and bhuvi can hold their own and should be persisted with cos replacements like ishant are real tried and tested failures not these guys who are playing first season and still easily out performing likes of ishant who has been here for ages and why should i care about how ishant was at start ? he is pure crap now and that is what counts. Yep Ishant stunk in odis my point was more about Bhuvi as test bowler not odis, odis both of them stink , it does not matter who it is. Bhuvi looks marginally better for now in odis as this is his first rodeo of bowling in death overs and let us revisit this after 10 odis where Bhuvi is bowling death overs.
CG Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 When u have 2 new balls and bhuvi bowls most of his overs is his initial spell .India cannot afford him not picking wickets. We play odis in eng now which will be good for his type of bowling .Lets see.

Ishant has been better odi bowler than test bowler for india recently even with all his problems he has taken 100 wickets in 70 matches at 31 with economy 5.7 with strike rate 32 mostly bowling first change so just shows how worse bhuvi is.

rkt.india Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 I don't see much improvement in pace, still averaging 82-83 mph with odd ball over 85 mph.
Sidhoni Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 if only death bowling was about just pitching the ball point is he is very calm and even after getting slogged for boundary his next ball can be spot on yorker so u never see overs more than 10-12 runs when bhuvi is bowling. you cannot land every ball as yorker but he does get vast majority of them in and is never really rattled Is that good enough? He bowls vast majority in yorkers? Is that what you meant?
Old guy Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Is that good enough? He bowls vast majority in yorkers? Is that what you meant? occasionally on his bad overs if some one goes for just 10 -12 its pretty good now a days
Sidhoni Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 occasionally on his bad overs if some one goes for just 10 -12 its pretty good now a days So you are saying he goes for 10 runs only occasionally on his bad day? No way, he must be Malinga to do that.
