The powerful the procy, the faster your laptop would be and the better the performance. Applying thermal paste is no big deal but rather have a cooling pad and make sure nothing is blocking your fan. If you get a good deal with i7, just go for it, and don't worry a lot about heating as that can be taken care of.

I heard it works. Never tried it my self. I had some thermal paste on my laptop from dell. The key is not overdo it. Dont put more than what is needed.

He's quite young so he needs it mainly for his studies, internet, movies/music, some games etc. Here are some options I've looked at: HP Pavilion 15-n006ax Dell Inspiron 15 3521 Samsung NP300E5X-A01IN Dell Vostro 2520 Which one of these is the best? Also, are there any other good options under 35k? Also recommend some laptops in the same range for gaming.

Not suited for students. You will have to pick one between HP and Dell Inspiron. Dell's 3rd gen I3 is a bit overclocked, so it will be slightly better than AMD A4 5000 in multitasking. But Dell's integrated GPU is plain POS. It's no match for AMD Radeon in HP. I would say HP is a good choice by far. My friend recently bought Asus X550CC, it's same as Dell 3521, except that it has 2GB Nvidia dedicated GPU. It's around 31k. Check that out too.

The Dell Inspiron was my personal choice among the 4 I had posted here but then Detonator told about the Asus and thats also quite good in this range. I'll recommend both - then he can buy whichever he likes.

There are lot of awesome cooling pads in the market. Dell stopped shipping Vostro models, though latitude and precision models are still around. As I said before, Vostro is meant for office, where many people use it 24/7. It's designed to withstand heavy usage. Latitude is just a bigger and more faster version of Vostro. Damn expensive.

I have a HP laptop for last 5 years and the only problem is Overheating otherwise the laptop runs smoothly with around 16 hours daily usage.

My experience with my laptop and my friends have been bad and my sisters laptop gets over heated for no reason Problem is after sale service they loot people and refused to replace screen of my laptop after it had some issue
