Prakat Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Watching the Ashes pre-match package set me thinking how starved we are for different opinions as Indian fans. They've got Gower, Warne, Holding, Bumble, Hussain, Botham and many more. We've had Shastri and Gavaskar hogging the stage for over a decade. Aren't there any more people we would like to hear from? Ganguly and Kapil are welcome additions but we've got a long way to go.
FischerTal Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 you forgot Dravid and the legendary Laxman... there is already a thread on Laxman's gems :giggle:
saneindian Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Shastri, Gavaskar, Bhogle, Manjrekar, Ganguly, Wasim, Warne - Star Cricket had an impressive line up with Dravid for the Eng series and Tom Moody - Border joining for the Ind-Aus series. They also had Kapil, Sidhu, Rameez and Ayaz Menon on the Hindi panel. Simon Highes was there for the technical analysis. A decent group IMO though the dos and donts by BCCI constrains them from discussing a few topics. I would love to see Ian Bishop, Simon Doull as neutral commies getting added to the panel.
jalebi_bhai Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 One guy who I think should really commentate is Murali Karthik. Very articulate and insightful.

Ditto on those two. Bhogle and Manjraker are salaried employees. Manju has been good lately as an anchor. Bhogle needs to go stat. Dravid is a good add and needs to be given more airtime or convinced to appear more.
Prakat Posted July 21, 2013 Author Posted July 21, 2013 @jb Murali is a good one. He will bring something to the table. Rameez is good only because he is so emotionally connnected with the fortunes of the Pakistani team. You can sense him swinging between defeat and victory throughout the match. Russell is a lot like that. Once when someone was batting well against India he decided to correct Gavaskar on the proper way to play fast bowling.

Swing_n_Speed Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 One guy who I think should really commentate is Murali Karthik. Very articulate and insightful. + 1 Murali Kathik is very well spoken. Definitely brings more to the commentary table than Laxman and dare I say even Dravid. Kartik and Ganguly on air together has the potential to be a real gem. Outside of cricketers we could also do with another Bhogle like commentator.

They'll be a good combo......if Dada doesn't keep messing up every player's name.......:giggle:......
CSK Fan Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 BCCI? Isn't it the TV channels who chose commentators?
jalebi_bhai Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Barring Bhogle.......they are all on BCCI's payroll......
Prakat Posted July 21, 2013 Author Posted July 21, 2013 gavaskar is similar with mumbai indians :cantstop: Gavva was like that throughout the 90s and 00s. But for Tendulkar's innings only. He would be all chirpy and aflutter while Tendulkar was batting well, but once he got out Gavva sounded like a ghost on overtime.
rkt.india Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Jeremy Cony..I like his poetic style of commentary. :--D
namasteji1 Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Matthew Hayden was there in Ind-Aus series as well. Was a good addition.
