Yes, they are and anyone who witnessed UP under Kalyan and Rajnath Singh would testify to it. At least they are not throwing 14-15 year old children in jail for cheating in an exam, without the possibility of bail to boot.

For every incident you bring about, there are 100s of misdeeds from every govt be it Mulayams or Mayawati's.. or Modi's govt in Gujarat. Akhilesh is an educated guy & I expect his governance should be better than the past govts of UP..barring isolated incidents like these

Educated does not mean experienced and to run a state like UP you need Administrative experience which he did not have. He has good intentions and some good ideas but he does not know how to implement any of those in UP's political system (and the Samajwadi Party's internal political system with Shivpal Yadav and Azam Khan being Ministers over whom he has no control). He's politically naive and hasty - many of his decisions (there was one about giving all MLAs 25 lakhs to buy a car - it had to be rescinded within 24 hours because the opposition parties lambasted the Govt ; there was another decision to close all Malls and major markets by 7 in the evening to conserve electricity - had to be rescinded within 24 hours because of huge protests from all mall/shop owners across the state). The Law & Order situation has seen a massive deterioration since this Govt. has come to power and SP's goons have a free run of the state and can get away with anything.

The poster made a sarcastic remark to imply that surely BJP cannot do worse than this and I was trying to tell him that BJP has done worse than this. In the process I gave one example of the kind of stuff they did. How is that being bereft of ideas? And Akhilesh being educated means at the most that he is well intentioned. His administrative skills are close to zero and the major control of the state is still in the hands of the old SP gundas.

You want some mathematical formula? Ask even the BJP supporters from UP and they will tell you, if you don't believe my judgment. Off the top of my head there is Sachin=GOD and Khalpat, who are from UP on ICF and are BJP supporters. If you know some BJP supporter from UP in real life, you can ask him as well about the corruption, draconian laws, and the pitiful law and order situation when BJP was in power. I just gave you one example of 14-15 year old kids being put in jail without bail for cheating in exams, and the law then being used to settle political scores with opponents by putting their kids in jail.

Completely Agree. I have a couple of friends from Noida. They said like both are equally destructive on democracy. He said a logic, that as the congress was in power at centre, they will do some more attempts to bring down BJP's name stating that incident. BUT if congress is in power at centre and in the particualr constituency, more chances for the congress to do anything there. I m ok to be proven wrong. Just like, if Jaya was in power the DMK MLA's will just keep quiet and the other way around. But considering congress was in power most of the time, the damage done by them will be the most.

Durga Shakti Nagpal reinstated quietly http://www.deccanchronicle.com/130913/news-current-affairs/article/durga-shakti-nagpal-reinstated-quietly

Lucknow: After facing severe criticism on the issue, the Uttar Pradesh government has revoked the suspension of IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal and has done so, rather quietly. “Her suspension was revoked four days ago but she has been asked not to disclose the same because we do not want another round of controversy on the issue. For the time being, Durga Shakti Nagpal will remain attached with the Board of Revenue and is likely to get a fresh posting after a month or two,” a source said on Thursday. She has also been ‘advised’ to seek directions of her seniors on sensitive and controversial issues in future.
