rkt.india Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 LUCKNOW: The UP government late on Saturday night suspended Durga Shakti Nagpal, the sub-divisional magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar. Nagpal, a 2010 batch IAS officer, who has been in news for her crackdown on illegal sand mining, was allegedly suspended over a dispute related to a religious place. Principal secretary, appointments, Rajiv Kumar, who sanctioned Nagpal's suspension, was unavailable for comment. Nagpal's suspension orders were issued late on Saturday night but no information was given to the media. When TOI contacted the office of the principal secretary, appointments, it confirmed that the suspension order had been served. Nagpal, however, could not be reached for reaction despite repeated calls. Sources said her suspension was sanctioned after the GB Nagar SDM allegedly ordered the razing of the boundary wall surrounding a religious site. Since the religious structure was coming up on government land without permission for construction, Nagpal reportedly ordered the removal of illegal construction. She was also accused of not consulting her immediate senior, the district magistrate, before issuing the orders. Opposition parties slammed the SP government for Nagpal's suspension. Bahujan Samaj Party leader Satish Chandra Mishra said that instead of initiating action against the criminal elements, the SP government was punishing officials who dared the mafia. Bharatiya Janata Party spokesman Manoj Mishra, said, "Nagpal's suspension is indicative of the sand mafia's victory. If the government claims to be so active, it should, instead, focus on bettering the law and order conditions in UP." Rashtriya Lok Dal state president Munna Singh Chauhan in a statement issued on Sunday said the state government was clamping down on honest officers and, as a result, setting a bad precedent. Opposition also alleged that the government gave into pressure from the mining mafia and ordered Nagpal's suspension. Nagpal has been in the public eye over the past few months for her crackdown on the sand mafia dredging sand from the Yamuna and Hindon rivers in the GB Nagar district. On July 23, TOI had reported that Nagpal ordered the seizure of 24 dumpers engaged in illegal quarrying in a matter of two days. Apart from deploying special flying squads and undercover cops to curb the illegal mining along the two western UP rivers, Nagpal also got 15 alleged offenders arrested. Since April, UP Police has lodged 17 FIRs against offenders; in 22 cases, chief judicial magistrates ordered the arrest of illegal sand dredgers. From April to June, under Nagpal's watchful eye, the mining department impounded 297 vehicles and collected a fine of over Rs 80 lakh. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/IAS-Durga-Shakti-Nagpal-who-took-on-sand-mafia-suspended/articleshow/21440059.cms  Will this ever end?

beetle Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 I think akhilesh Yadav is going to leave his father way behind as far as corruption and communalism are concerned. The TV channels are having a blast with the name "Durga" .....I wonder if they could have come up with interesting breaking news if she had a tame name like...payal,muskaan or pankhudi....
AGHORI Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Nothing new. There are hundreds of incidents like this happens in india everyday

The TV channels are having a blast with the name "Durga" .....I wonder if they could have come up with interesting breaking news if she had a tame name like...payal,muskaan or pankhudi.... he's just politically naive and is being manipulated. MSY should never have made him CM without any administrative experience of any sort - he's making one mistake after the other and when he does make mistakes, the senior leaders who don't like him take full advantage to aggravate the situation and make it impossible for him to retract his stand. Meanwhile the law and order situation is worsening with every passing day and he doesn't have an idea as to what he should do.
beetle Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 ^^agree....imagine what will happen if pappu fail becomes PM...:haha:
Sachin=GOD Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 ^^agree....imagine what will happen if pappu fail becomes PM...:haha: I don't think he will. IMO all the senior Cong leaders and Rahul himself are now aware that he is just not good enough to be the PM and if he does become then it can severely damage the party because of his foolishness and absolute lack of vision/ideas/knowledge. He, like his mother, will have the remote control and unconstitutional authority with no accountability.

Sachin=GOD Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 That is what I hate about these present day Gandhis...power without accountability. At least the previous ones were accountable for their time as PM. yeah, its a very bad and dangerous precedent set by Sonia Gandhi. And with Rahul being as he is (to use a polite word, "dumb") I don't see this system going anywhere. As with most other bad practices in India politics, this one too has been started by Cong and the country has (and will in the future) suffered because of it.

The sand mafia lobby is allegedly regulated by the SP. The sand mafia are regular contributors to the SP party fund.
diga Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Oil mafia claimed a guy several years back...(manjunath shanmugam) Is there a mafia gang behind each item sold in this country?
diga Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Anyone remember how IPS officer Ashok Deshbhratar was shunted out to protect Hasan Ali (controversial tax evader) and eventually 10-Janpath? Durga Shakti's is not an isolated incident, & has been happening in this country.
asterix Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Kangress will drop Durga Shakti like hot potato, the moment Parliament session starts... :giggle:
