diga Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 CWC clears Telangana proposal, Hyderabad to be shared capital for 10 years The statehood for Telangana got a fillip today with the Congress Working Committee unanimously passing a resolution giving a go-ahead for the formation of the new state. “A resolution was passed in the working committee meeting. It is resolved to request the Central government to take steps under the Constitution of India to form the separate state of Telangana,†Congress head of media department Ajay Maken said after the CWC meeting in New Delhi. He said that the Centre would have to create a mechanism to sort out matters related to, but not limited to sharing of river water, electricity, and ensuring the safety of people from the Andhra Pradesh region and guaranteeing them their basic rights. The Congress spokesperson said the Centre will ensure that Hyderabad will be the common capital of the two states for 10 years and will put in place legal and administrative procedures for both states to function from it. Maken said the Centre would also assist in building of new capital for the Andhra Pradesh state in 10 years. “CWC acknowledges that the decision to form Telangana was not a easy decision,†he said, adding that it had been taken after a wide consensus was taken. He said that the party had appealed to Congress activists and Telugu-speaking people to ensure the legislation was implemented at the earliest and took place peacefully.
diga Posted July 30, 2013 Author Posted July 30, 2013 Keshav Rao (TRS): We are happy about the UPA decision. However, we would like to wait till the bill is passed in Parliament. On the question of Hyderabad there is no question of any compromise. Hyderabad should be the capital of Telangana. We will accommodate others from the state only as long as the new capital of Andhra Pradesh is not built. DA Somayajulu (YRS Congress): The Congress is merely attempting to stem its political losses in the state by forming the new state. Prakash Karat (CPM): Now that a decision is being taken on the break up of Andhra Pradesh, I think that creating new states must be looked at afresh. I don’t think we should go on this path. KT Rama Rao (TRS): The mood is hopeful and optimistic, but at the same time lot of observations are coming in because we have been through this before. We are very cautious at this juncture, because we want the bill to be passed in the Parliament and until that happens the people of Telangana are not in a mood to celebrate.
adi B Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 might end up being a horribly wrong decision and face the backlash in the GE
urbestfriend Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Good decision because this has been the ask of people of telangana for 6 decades. I think it hurts congress in GE as Andhra and rayalseema will have a backlash but i guess not taking a decision would have hurt congress more.
maniac Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 P.V.N was from Telengana he was a c.m,became a P.M later on,still no change and I beleive there were other C.M's from Telangana in the past too.....Watch investments from Andhra go away and let the inmates run the asylum and we will have another backward state on our hands.
maniac Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 ^P.S no disrespect for the "Telangana SUpporters"...It's a fact.....This is just a political move as seen in the past,yYour own couldn't do much so why stir up something :dontknow:

BeautifulGame Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Great decision.Should have happened years .Good to see Congress finally growing a backbone . Hopefully the bifurcation happens without anymore hiccup
InjusticeServed Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Telangana population stands at 3.3 crore, closest comparable country in population is Canada having same 3.3 crore population. Canada - Population = 3.3 Crore Area = 9,984,670 km2 Telangana Population = 3.3 Crore Area = 114,840 km² Canada is 86x larger having same population. :omg: India is very over populated.
InjusticeServed Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Given India's population we should have more smaller states, now UP/MH should also be partitioned.

Andhra started separate state movement of their own soon after he became CM so as soon as there was a CM from telangana they dont want anyone from telangana to have jobs in andhra but all andhra people got jobs of telangana people and still getting it through your leaders. Vengal rao was another one but just he became CM at really bad time we had naxalism in peaks. He had deal a lot with it. Chenna reddy was the only CM who I think didnt do much. we had 16 cheif ministers in the mean time and only three from telangana and what about 13 times.

Well if you talk about Government Sector then I dont have the numbers to argue with you but what about private sector? Did Andhra people take 'yer jaabs' there too. That is a BS argument....I SYmpathise with Telangana people who were opressed by Nizam for decades and trying to get back on their feet,so it makes sense why they are poor/illetrate and more backward compared to people from Andhra but to blame ANdhra people for that is stupid....Infact investments be it in private sector or Film Industry have developed Hyderabad....Yes literally they built Hyderabad and your welcome to flourish as you guys are bound by the same language, culture, tastes, etc, and no one thinks you are different except for the politically motivated morons why blame people from Andhra and make them your enemies. 3/16 is a good enough sample sizw to measure the inefficiencies of any administration...right now everyone prospers, but the leaders and the existing lack of talent(as I said nothing to with indivuduals, more to do wit hhistory)will push Telangana back in to the dark ages.Naxalism and COmmunism are other threats you guys have.

What is this about pushing Telangana back to dark ages? The whole point of separate Telangana is the years of negligence and leaving it in dark ages. I can't really see it going any worse than it is now.

Exactly.Telengana is already one of the backward regions in India. The infrastructure in most parts of rural Telengana are way behind when compared even with coastal Andra. The telengana people have very little to lose and mostly to gain from the new state.

I can't really see it going any worse than it is now. Some of the administrators that the state of Andhra has had are way better than the current lot who potray themselves as saviors and leaders of Telangana. As people of Andhra ,Telangana people had atleast their own identity Now be ready to go back into the "Dora" (Telangana term for Yor Highness)...Kaal Mokuthha Baanchan(Fall at your feet your highness) days with the new management. Inter-mingling and forming a unified culture of being a part of Andhra was the best thing that happened to forget the wounds of Nizam's atrocities to Telangana people....If Telangana leaders/Supporters had that much love and passion may be they should start more programs for the uplifment of the poor villagers than wanting a seperate state and putting it in hands of more corrupt politicians. It's only a power mongering ploy. Also Andhra would be glad to get rid of the Gangrene that is backward Telangana (No disrespect,Just the truth)but obviously there is too much vested in Hyderabad.
gult Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 This is a political master stroke from congress f*****s. They will sweep the LS polls in Telangana (along with TRS) and get majority of seats in Andhra; as YSRC, which is the most vocal united andhra/anti-telangana party, will be forced to deal with them. YS Jagan has no option but to join them as the congress bureau of investigation might end his career otherwise. Andhra Pradesh and the TDP are screwed for the next 5 years

Bring private sector here shows your evasive tactics. From 50s to 90 the only jobs were public sector. Its only from last decade we private sector. Making assumptions doesnt help you.
