Mishraji's world recrod of most wickets in a 5-match ODI series

India seeking a 5-0 whitewash against Zimbabwe managed to restrict the hosts to 163 in the 5th and final ODI as Amit Mishra spun his way to a maiden five-wicket haul picking six wickets in all. The spinner unnerved the Zimbabwean lower order with his leg spin as he cleaned the tail to finish with figures of 48/6 in 8.5 overs. Mishra managed to get most wickets by any bowler in a 5-match series or tournament. The spinner also equaled Indian bowling great Javagal Srinath's world record for the most wickets in a bilateral ODI series with 18 wickets. Srinath managed his feat in 7 matches so Mishra equaled the record in less matches and can be proud of his bowling prowess as India's first choice spinner R Ashwin was rested for this series.

and lets look at Mishra's ODI record 1 match v Australia were he had figures of 1/45 in 10 overs 1 match v SA where he had figures of 1/29 in 10 overs 2 matches v SL where he averages 26.66 with the ball The rest he has played v so called minnows. So i would love to ask the people in this thread (A) What enough chances? (B) Are those bad figures? The fact of the matter is that just cause Mishra is not the fittest person in the world some people just write him off. Quite frankly its a disgusting attitude to have. I am not saying he will work v the established teams. But surely deserves a shot

Mishra suffered due to that poor test series in England. Otherwise in WI in 2011, he was our best bowler in ODIs. Post the Eng series lost all hope, put on a lot of weight and didn't seem motivated enough.

I always believed he was wrongly dropped from LOI's side after 4-0 in England. He was not good enough for tests, but should've been persisted with in ODI's. Anyway He's always a better 3rd spinner option than Chawla.

We already had four top notch spinners fighting for two spots but since the surprise arrival of Sir Jadeja and his Bradman type batting, the four are now fighting for only one spot. I genuinely feel sorry for Mishra and Ojha. Ashwin Ojha Mishra Bhajji

How good is Karan Sharma? Has anybody seen him live in any domestic match? From what I've seen in the IPL, he bowls around 90ks, has very good control for a wrist spinner, puts decent revvs on the ball and is young unlike Mishra.

People should be keen to note that Mishra has the ability to run through the tail. India for as long as I can remember has always struggled with the tail. In todays world of wagging tails, its an important feat to have. Maybe the captains need to use him later in the innings when he can make more of an impact. Sir can bowl from overs 10 onwards.
