Five Indian soldiers have died after they were ambushed by Pakistan soldiers in the Poonch area of Jammu and Kashmir. Sources say the Pakistanis entered Indian territory for the attack last night. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted: "Was briefed early this morning about news that 5 of our soldiers had been killed on the LOC. My heartfelt condolences to their next of kin." Sources say the Indians attacked were on patrol duty along the Line of Control in what the army describes as "an area domination exercise" in the Chakanda Bagh area of Poonch. Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh said recently that India would be "picking up the threads" of peace talks with the new Pakistani government led by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, which was elected in May. Ms Singh however had caveated that any dialogue with Islamabad "presupposes an environment free of violence and of terror". Cross-border relations hit a low in January and February this year after six soldiers in total from both sides were killed in exchanges along the Line of control in Kashmir. Pakistan denied that its troops had mutilated two Indian soldiers and beheaded one of them. Prime Minister Sharif has called for closer rapprochement with India since winning the general elections

That's right man. Why stop the talks? Just ask our army to give a response in kind.

such brazen attacks by Pakistan will continue till the time the UPA takes a hard stance and order the Indian Army to give a response which is 10 times the attack. Then lets see which Paki dares the cross the border. But I don't expect this shameless, corrupt Govt to do anything.

All they need is to win the next election, not to worry about such provocations. I wouldn't be surprized, they might do corruption in the ammo our soldiers have. "why 4 cartriges? 1 cartrige is enough." :headshake:

Response in kind is enough. Also, be assured that RAW has a role in their internal problems.

they're already united against us. But as I said in my post - I don't expect this Govt to do anything. Forget about 10 times, I'd be surprised if they even allow a response in kind.

Yup. And thats why the Food Security Bill and other populist measures will the top priority instead of this.

Let us settle at RAW operations inside Pak and a response in kind to satisfy our public. public satisfaction is important, I hope GoI realizes this and publicly orders its army for a response in kind.

Amongst all this, look what our Congress and SP leaders are doing in Parliament:

Members of the Congress and Samajwadi Party almost came to blows in Parliament today, forcing the Rajya Sabha to adjourn briefly in the afternoon. The clash between Samajwadi Party member Naresh Agarwal and Congress party's Mani Shankar Aiyer took place amid loud demands in the Upper House for a discussion on the killing of Indian jawans by Pakistan. Mr Aiyer, a former petroleum minister, said there were other issues that needed discussion, and questioned Samajwadi Party members whether they were not concerned about gas prices. SP's Naresh Agarwal hit back with an insult targeted at Mr Aiyar, which was immediately expunged by Rajya Sabha chairman Hamid Ansari. A furious Mr Aiyar rushed out of his seat towards Mr Agarwal shouting: "How dare you call me that!" He was stopped by other members, but the angry exchanges continued until the chairman adjourned the house. "How could you say such a big thing?" former Law Minister Ashwani Kumar asked the SP member. Some Left MPs were also seen criticizing Mr Agarwal. Later, Trinamool MP Derek O' Brien tweeted: "Two senior MPs on either side of me almost came to blows in the RS (Rajya Sabha). What are we coming to?"

Well when you have one million opposing soldiers in close proximity to one another things like this are gonna unfortunately happen. What I don't understand is why the Indian media always and I mean ALWAYS paints these events as Pakistan's fault. Looks to me like this event occurred when two patrolling units ran into one another. Perhaps they should keep a strict neutral zone in the middle to prevent such events.
