BeautifulGame Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Senior Samajwadi Party leader and state urban development minister Azam Khan launched a scathing attack on the media for blowing the issue of IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal’s suspension out of proportion and said the entire system of Civil Services should be abolished as it was a British system. Khan, who was on a personal visit to Bareilly on Thursday, said, “The media stretched the thread so much so that it snapped, leaving a junior officer injured. It is the media who has turned Durga into Hindu goddess 'Durgaji' unnecessarily.†He said there were several cases in which high ranking officers including managing directors and chief engineers got suspended, but “there is not a single line in the newspaper about them. The media unnecessarily raked up this issue and continued to linger on it.†Khan also said the district magistrate (DM) of Gautam Budha Nagar, should also have been suspended on the very first day. “It is only his responsibility that the issue occurred. He should have made the chief minister aware of the situation on the very first day of the incident,†he added. In no mood to cower down, Khan even said the entire system of Civil Services should be abolished as it was a British system. “This is a British system. They had introduced it but they themselves are not using it. Be it China, Europe, America, Japan or the Gulf, this system exists nowhere. Why? Is it only these people (IAS officers) who are just two, three or ten thousand in number who can run the country? Is all the other population of over 125 crore illiterate, incapable or fools? They can also run the country. This system should be abolished,†said Khan. Hitting out at Congress, Azam said the level of the party has stooped so low that its president Sonia Gandhi was writing a letter for a sub-divisional magistrate. Regarding reports claiming that UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav was in darkness over Nagpal's suspension, Azam blamed the district magistrate of not giving a clear picture to the CM and keeping him ignorant of the real situation. Attacking BSP, the minister said the party which wants division of the state could make it an issue. Azam also described BJP as a party of dual character. Khan also slammed the central government over the frequent changing of statements from the defence minister over the killing of Indian soldiers in Kashmir. “If the Congress can do politics over a petty issue like an SDM’s suspension, their ministers can go to any lengths. They can do even politics on dead soldiers,†said Azam :hysterical: Next step would be abolish Judiciary too afterall it was established by the British too.

Soorma_Bhopali Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Although given in a different context ,I kind of agree with him ..no less than a person like Mark Tully advocates it ..he has proved that erstwhile ICS, now IAS , was designed to ensile British raaj in a Mai-baap kind of governance structure ..it has produced generalists and corruption all around .. should replace IAS with a grassroots administrative structure where local admin is accountable to local people ...just like US ..rather than present structure where current IAS feel being PA to Ministers is a more " malaidaar " posting than serving in a mofussil town with opportunities to solve real issues ..heck , if anyone has any relatives in these services , he would know the concept of "malaidaar" and "dry" postings .. as for Azam and his Ilk,less said the better ...
ravishingravi Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Is he secular though ? And most importantly, is the Mulayam govt secular ? Considering the alllegation they have made on Durga.

Your continuous trolling in every thread related to politics with your secular baaja is getting tiresome. Secular or communal, SP and BSP have done a better job in UP than BJP, and even BJP supporters agree to it.

Yes. Reforms are required but not abolishment. At least through IAS system we get some meritorious people in govt administration. Abolishing IAS system would mean only people who couldn't get in private sector would get into administration. Also we know in what context Azam Khan made that statement so it is not good idea to come across as supporting him.

Raghav_12 Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 ++++++++++ politics se related koi bhi thread ho aur yeh shuru ho jaate hain "secular secular secular". partly agree with that/ But whole politics seems to be hinged on one single thing whether it is communal or secular (so-called). His rant reflects that mind set only.

We already have that with Panchayat and Municipal systems.

Its getting irritating now.
randomGuy Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 ++++++++++ politics se related koi bhi thread ho aur yeh shuru ho jaate hain "secular secular secular". Yaar but he is right. Vote division on basis of caste and religion bring these people to power, they don't have to face too much accountability for issues that matter like the one in the OP.

surajmal Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Anything that doesn't add value needs to be automatized. Bureaucracy and Finance are the 2 big ones.
randomGuy Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 - > These guys suspended IAS Durga in the name of secularism. - > These guys are put into power on basis of vote division on caste and religion. - > Azam Khan is already notorious for behaving with IAS with disdain (a video had come in the news earlier showing this attitude) How do people expect that secularism wouldn't be brought in such debates??

Secular or communal, SP and BSP have done a better job in UP than BJP, and even BJP supporters agree to it. BSP was the most corrupt government in history. They spent 1000s of crores in building statues of Mayawati and co.Not to mention about the disappropriate assests cases againist her. SP is widely considered the most gunda party in UP.You better start watching a few TV discussions regarding this.Certain communities can get away with anything in UP during SP rule. BJP's vote share in UP is on the rise if current surveys are to be believed. BJP lost UP because of Mr.Gupta.

If Modi supporters say Secular or Communal, Modi has done better job in Gujrat than Congress ever did in any state. What would you say on that ? BTW, I dont want to make it a Modi thread.
