Chawla is now the highest run scorer in the Somerset innings...... well played indeed. Has secured the 4th batting point for Somerset. knocks of 26, 18 and 72 (and playing as of now) in the county championship. 72 has come at Lords.

did his job to be honest..... came in at 211/7 and has taken his side to 400. Atleast earned a draw for them in his fixture against a good Middlesex team at Lords. Will help a lot against the relegation battle for Somerset.

Are Chawla's runs in first division more valuable than any runs GG scores in the 2nd division?

yes quality in divison 1 is more than division 2.

his batting might just get him back in the reckoning for ODI comeback, though Mishra's gonna be hard to replace now

just highlights how good a knock that was. Before he came to the crease the Middlesex spinners were all over Somerset. Just stepped out to them and smashed them.

County cricket seems to really struggle v any sort of leg spinner. Offies like Ojha and Bhajji have been so so for their sides.

If i was a county side i would try to get Amit Mishra next season (assuming India A dont have him) Probably a better leg spinner than Chawla, who is a better batsman. also qualifies for county cricket as a result of those Zim ODIs

btw based on twitter Chawla is being paid £25,000 (25lakh by current exchange rates) to play for Somerset for 2 and a half months (Mid Aug, Sept and October) + expenses (like food lodging and travel). Not a bad deal for 2 months work in a different scenery.
