G_B_ Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 Chawla is now the highest run scorer in the Somerset innings...... well played indeed. Has secured the 4th batting point for Somerset. knocks of 26, 18 and 72 (and playing as of now) in the county championship. 72 has come at Lords.
G_B_ Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 What a 100 for Chawla. Brought up with a 6 of the spinner..... fantastic knock
saneindian Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Wonderful knock by Chawla. Who was the last Indian to hit a 100 in county cricket?
G_B_ Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 might just be chawla himself who hit a century for Sussex in 2009
G_B_ Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 did his job to be honest..... came in at 211/7 and has taken his side to 400. Atleast earned a draw for them in his fixture against a good Middlesex team at Lords. Will help a lot against the relegation battle for Somerset.

Are Chawla's runs in first division more valuable than any runs GG scores in the 2nd division?
G_B_ Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 Are Chawla's runs in first division more valuable than any runs GG scores in the 2nd division? yes quality in divison 1 is more than division 2.
Lord Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 his batting might just get him back in the reckoning for ODI comeback, though Mishra's gonna be hard to replace now
G_B_ Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 needs to sort his bowling out to be honest. India has Sir Ashwin Mishra all can bat
Precambrian Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 WTF Middlesex 55/7 !!! Must be a damn good knock
SLICKR392 Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 ^ Yet to bowl. http://www.espncricinfo.com/county-cricket-2013/engine/current/match/593515.html
G_B_ Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 just highlights how good a knock that was. Before he came to the crease the Middlesex spinners were all over Somerset. Just stepped out to them and smashed them.
G_B_ Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 now he picks up 3 wickets for 8 runs.... dream match for him
SLICKR392 Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 now he picks up 3 wickets for 8 runs.... dream match for him Wow :hatsoff:
G_B_ Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 County cricket seems to really struggle v any sort of leg spinner. Offies like Ojha and Bhajji have been so so for their sides.
G_B_ Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 If i was a county side i would try to get Amit Mishra next season (assuming India A dont have him) Probably a better leg spinner than Chawla, who is a better batsman. also qualifies for county cricket as a result of those Zim ODIs
Lord Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 County cricket seems to really struggle v any sort of leg spinner. Offies like Ojha and Bhajji have been so so for their sides. even Imran Tahir had success there:cantstop:
G_B_ Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 btw based on twitter Chawla is being paid £25,000 (25lakh by current exchange rates) to play for Somerset for 2 and a half months (Mid Aug, Sept and October) + expenses (like food lodging and travel). Not a bad deal for 2 months work in a different scenery.
