Few more things which could work in Raina's favour: 1. Lack of left handers in top seven except Shikar Dhawan. 2. Rhiti sports and Dhoni's Chamcha. Rahane blew his chance and Rohit in contention for the 6th spot if Raina fails in first test. Although I dont question Raina's work ethic, its high time to move on from Raina in test cricket.

FreakazoiD Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Raina will play the first 2 tests at least. His off-spin will be handy after Amla and co have plundered triple hundreds against our bowling "attack". The highly over-rated Rahane should not even be on tour.

His bowling is overrated...he is not even in the same league as yuvraj and sehwag as a part time bowler. Ashwin and Bhuvan are better batsmen at test level.....batting wise I would say he is equal to sir but then again sir has been a star bowler for us in recent times and a better fielder. There is no place for sir jaddu and Raina in the same test team and obviously I will take jaddu over Raina any day.

Sir will not do worse than a new young player playing his first series in South Africa ....and his bowling and fielding make him much more valuable.taking 20 wickets is the only way to win in southafrica and I don't back our seamers to do that consistently . If sir proves useless with the ball as I kind of have a feeling he would very soon.....them go for a specialist batsman. Till then sir all the way :hatsoff:
maniac Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Dhoni,Ashwin,jaddu,Bhuvan at 6,7,8,9 is not as bad as it looks.infact it looks better than dhawan,vj,srt(on current form). Only hopes on chepu and rat.raina or another batsmen will not be needed. No4 is the right spot for rohit and he will get it once srt retirres.till then no need to play an extra bat at 6.

Ashwin and jaddu both balance the side.....I mean there is a good chance at least one of them can come off with the bat or ball. Most of our specialists have a good chance of just being passengers on most occasions.

The early form produced by Rohit and Raina augurs well for their careers and the national team. Now they must sustain it and score heavily in the remainder of the series.
