cant believe people have picked pishant in their playing :facepalm:,the guy is hopeless in tests,recent performances and his exploits last time in saf is there for all of us to see . i`d rather play shami,mohit or pandey in place of pishant without even thinking

@GB yeah its funny isn't it jadeja opening our spin bowling attack overseas one of the things on our bucket list m sure - its been that kind of a phase u r half kidding and half serious. I can picture him picking up a few leg befores and a couple caught behinds hmmmm :). But on paper that looks real real weak especially if we do not have any major visibility on zak.

The way i see it, Jadeja or any spinner will have to do a holding job and bowl overs for less number of runs. Sir is a more economical spinner than Ash. I think needs to be backed. We are a 4 man bowling unit and need a spinner to take the world load so that other pacers can bowl limited quotas.

Expecting all wickets from pacers would be too much.Our spinner needs to contribute too.Ashwin might be expensive but has more chance to take wickets,especially with his height.

He was not even economical which is the job of spinners in those conditions. Jadeja has lot more control than Ash and he can pick a few wickets if ball starts turning.

I think we need to realistic as to what a spinner can do. Somebody like Ajmal averages 33 with the ball on the last tour of SA. Sir and Ashwin are not at the same level of Ajmal as they currently are. Swann averages 32 with the ball. Pick a guy who can keeps things tight in the overs after after the new ball gets old and force the batsman to make mistakes. Sir is the better pick for that. The only way a spinner will pick up wickets in SA if he chokes the batsman into making mistakes. Ashwin in Australia just could not make an impact and averaged 62 with the ball and most importantly kept being smashed out of the attack.

Hmm. Agree with most of it but knowing Dhoni he will still go with ashwin. But my opinion is pick team based on pitch. I think Capetown has something in it for spinners. So two are needed here. But didn't hafeez take 4 wickets at durban ?

Well based on the A tour Rohit Sharma most certainly can double up as a spinner. Play Rohit at 6 and use him as a bowler. Obviously if Cape Town is an out and out dry turner then pick both Ash and Sir.

and as far as Dhoni goes i get a feeling that its going to be Sir and Ashwin who both play. Dhavan Mooli Pujara Sachin Kohli Dhoni Sir Ashwin Bhuvi Umi Ishant this is going to be our team. With DK, Raina, Rohit and Shami as back up. I dont agree with this team. Sir at 7 is not good enough with the bat. While Ishant is just not good enough period. But i have a nagging feeling that this will be the squad for SA and the playing 11. It will be a case of continuing with the same side the played v Aus with Ojha replaced by a seamer.

Amla,ABD,kallis and Smith are in totally different class compared elgar, duminy who have poor skills. They can smash our faster bowlers. Also we don't have fast bowlers who do containment job.Rohit may have gotten wickets of A side which is fairly inexperienced or poor at playing spin compared to players I mentioned.
