I just hate it when experts pick No-name county cricketers in their best list

I have observed this trend mostly with ex-Aussie and English experts. Guys like Boycott and Chapell have done this time and time again.Who cares about No-name county cricketers who couldn't cut it or were not good enough at international level. Greame Hick, Ramprakash and Hodge have unbeatable FC records,but were mediocre at international level. Also I hate when Pre- apartheid- South Africans like pollock,etc make it to the lists.Say if India was banned after England tour of 92-93.Kambli would have been the greatest player of his generation. Look at the associates list thread that was posted,Some very debatable names. I agree if the list is based on the greatest FC cricketers,but it is BS when no-name county players or Un-proven commodities make it to various lists.

Apart from Barry Richards and Graeme Pollock every other player that usually get picked have decent international records.

Barry Richards did superbly in the Packer Supertests as well, which featured bowling attacks much better than anything around the world since McGrath and Warne retired, but I guess they don't show up on stats guru. He outscored Viv Richards in their partnership together in the Supertests, and Viv was at the top of his game during that time. He also has a run a ball triple hundred in Australian domestic cricket against Lillee, McKenzie, and Lock - all successful test bowlers with a sub 30 average. Pollock was rated as the best left hand batsman by none other than Bradman. It's one thing to not choose them because in your view they did not play enough tests, but comparing them with Kambli, Hick, and Ramprakash just reflects ignorance beyond stats guru.

Well, why don't you think the opposite. People of current generation keep calling every player greatest, without watching players from past era. They must be equally frustrated by attitude of current cricket enthusiasts. It's same in every sport. I go to different forums of tennis and people who followed the career of Rod Laver always seem to say he was the greatest tennis player etc, and never agree that curreent or the last generation players can match the quality of Rod Laver. It's a never ending debate. The best is to never compare players from different generations.
