kumar713 Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Austrailia's concerted effort to unsettle England with a war of words continued as both Shane Watson and Michael Clarke got stuck into Kevin Pietersen. Watson reportedly told Pietersen he had to ‘look after the child’ — a reference to Bell’s diminutive stature. But Pietersen, who was on his way to a hard-earned fifty on a deathly slow day at The Oval, is understood to have replied that Bell had 20 Test hundreds to his name — 17 more than Watson :haha: Clarke then attempted to unsettle Pietersen, claiming: ‘No one in your team likes you.’ But Pietersen responded with a shrug and a smile. ‘You’re captain,’ he said. ‘And no one likes you.’ Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/cricket/article-2401228/Ashes-2013-Michael-Clarke-Kevin-Pietersen-war-words.html#ixzz2ctlcrx9v

G_B_ Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 I do believe that KP got out soon after this verbal spat. So clear it worked for the Aussies. I am surprised Australia did not do this before. I think England will face a lot of heat and grief from the Aussie players and crowd in Australia.
kubrickian Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Australia do well when they are up in the opposition's face and get all pumped up. Playing like gentlemen has never worked for them. I dont understand why they have mellowed down over the years.
SLICKR392 Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 ^ One of the reasons I like them. Under Clarke, in India, they were very mellow in the first 3 Tests and when Watto took over the 4th one, all hell broke loose between our players and theirs. ‘You’re captain,’ he said. ‘And no one likes you.’ Love the gritty Aussies.
