No protein.
You are wrong! Just 100g curd alone contains 11g protein , which is 22% of Daily Value based on a 2,000 calorie diet. One can consume 500g curd daily in 3 meal portions, thats 55g from curd alone. One can have sustainable amount of protein from simple diet, not everyone wants to have Arnold type body. Majority wants lean toned physique.

No it is not enough. You CAN get enough' date=' [b']but the traditional Indian diet (however you define it) does not have enough protein. The carbs to protein ratio is out of whack for most regional diets.
By traditional Indian diet, very broadly speaking from a UP/Haryana/Punjab Perspective: 1. Breakfast : 2 Paranthas with doodh(around 300-500 ml) 2. Lunch: Lentils/Chana/Rajma, Rice, Whole Wheat Roti, some green vegetable like Paalak, Bhindi, Methi, raita. 3. Dinner: Curry(usually of Paneer or meat 2-3 times a week if you are non vegetarian), Whole Wheat roti, and salad. At least that's broadly the typical diet I grew up on and noticed in 2-3 contiguous states as the staple diet. Maybe the protein numbers will not add up, but it's not that difficult to supplement the residual with the occasional omelette or kababs.

Also' date=' I guess on an average a person who weights 100kg should have an intake of at least 80g protein per day.[/quote'] 100 kg female burns 2270 Cal/day, male burns 2690 Cal/day. So one has to consume this much calories to maintain weight. If person wants to shed weight, 'lowest' doctors recommend is 1500 calories. Minimum Daily Value Protein based on different calorie diets - 1500 calories = 38 grams protein 2000 calories = 50 grams protein 2500 calories = 63 grams protein 3000 calories = 75 grams protein If one is not weight lifting and only brisk-walking etc for reducing weight, above protein values are enough.

You don't eat anything till 4pm? I don't think this is healthy. When do you wake up?

In Western India, Nachni/Ragi (a rich source of protein) is(or was) part of staple diet. It has 7.6g per 100g of protein. It is considered a poor man's rich meal in Karnataka I guess and called "Ragi Mudde". There are many such options in traditional Indian diets. http://www.pfaf.org/user/Plant.aspx?LatinName=Eleusine+coracana
one of favorites.Ragi mudde with Bassaru(spiced broth of veggie and lentils) is just heaven. Its a pain to do it in the US though.

At my peak and building upto the peak while bulking up during weight training,, I survived on Indian vegetrian diet ex. daals, beans, paneer, roti, lots of Yogurt, milk. I was most bulkiest even among my gora friends who workedout with me plus I could lift more than any of gym buddies. Me on Indian diet and them on western or whatever diet u wanna say.. So ya, if eaten properly, Indian diet is the most healthiest

It's cheap and nutritious. A wholesome raagi mudde plate cost Rs.12/ in Bangalore 5 years back.

We had no clue about that initially until we asked about it from local persons working in our company. We used to look at that thing curiously and think what the hell is this! :giggle:
