Neil Manthorp ‏@NeilManthorp 21m BCCI have put onus on CSA to pospone or cancel. They have offered bare minimum. 2 Test, 3 ODIs. Will cost CSA approx R150m in lost revenue.
Neil Manthorp ‏@NeilManthorp 26m As predicted four months ago, the India tour to SA will be reduced to 2 Tests and 3 ODIs - minimum required by FTP. 2 Test - :WTF:

Obviously this is his retirement series. Wont be going SA. At least can retire at home etc But he should have used last home series as retirement series. Well at least he has seen sense and calling it a day. Series been created just for the legend to wave farewell. I pesonally dont begrudge him that. The ultimate legend

There won't be any thread about "Bring back Sachin ASAP" after SA tour? :--D

I bet the second test will be in Mumbai. :haha:
thats the entire point IMO. Also, why are we playing 5 ODIs v NZ when there is a T20 world cup in 2014 coming up? some totally dumb scheduling from the BCCI. 3 tests and 3 T20s v NZ would have been ideal prep.

What a bunch of bullies. Why did they agree to the FTP in the first place? The FTP was decided 2 years ago, did they not know we will not have a home series for 18 months? Especially when TV right for 4 years have been re-sold only last year, was the BCCI not aware of no of ODIs/Tests/T20s we are going to play in that period? Also, why are they not talking about cutting down the 7 ODIs vs Aus? Play 3 ODIs and save 2 weeks there, cut down the 7 ODIs vs SA to 3 ODIs and save 2 weeks there again...there you have the 4 weeks for scheduling a home series vs WI without cutting down tests in SA or NZ.

@sane as per twitter by FTP minimum you have to play is 2 tests and 3 ODIs. I dont think BCCI are breaking any rules. I agree with you that BCCI should play 3 tests and 3 ODIs in Sa. Thats a good tour but IMO CSA make their money of the ODIs than tests and would want to play more ODIs. Atleast 5. ODIs are how most boards around the world make their money. Even a huge % of BCCI income comes from ODIs. Dont think there is much money to be made in T20s.

Money should be the last thing in BCCI 's mind for scheduling ..Is there prime objective - to maximize monetization or see India team at top of Tests,ODIs and T20's ranking >:whack: I think they should have planned this earlier ..They got into this situation as they were not going to fulfill their broadcast contract with Star India of atleast 30 days of international cricket SA series tests should be retained in full ..cut down Aus and SA ODI's to 3 ODI's only ..nowadays, who cares about bilateral ODI series ..

That and if they are planning to push SA for only 2 tests it's horrible. I mean 2 tests against the top side in the world is just disgusting. :((

Absolutely disgraceful I am ashamed that our board can put a huge tour in doubt all to facilitate one player, I do not care how great he was or how much of a legend he was, no individual should ever come before team India, for our tour to South Africa to be in doubt is a shambles, this is a very sassy in Indian cricket as far as I am concerned.

there is more to this than just Sachin and 2 tests. Otherwise they would have had the 5 ODIs. Looks like Lorgat's appointment did not go down well with the BCCI....

:WTF: now lets hope they try some young bowlers and batsmen before big series
Well only spot left in the top 7 to try a young bat is at no.4 (for whom this series has been planned  ) And we have a pretty youngish bowling line up, so can't experiment a lot there. Except probably try out Zak's fitness before the all important SA tour.

This is the difference between SC teams and the Aussies :winky:

Disgraceful end to a player fallen into disgrace. Average of < 55 and he is the best batsman of modern times?? :giggle:

Good to have test series at home. I was expecting they would schedule a series before SA tour. It would give an opportunity for Sachin to finish his 200 tests and give his farewell and select another batsman for SA tour, test out an opener because Vijay didnt do well in SA tour games and also try out some seamers. It would also be nice to play tests because its been a while since Aus series. But they better not shorten SA tour.
