Even Dravid and Laxman will score a century every 10-15 tests if you call them back out of retirement, but they cared for the team and hanged their boots at the right time while SRT loves only his love for cricket. He should himself realize that there is not much he can contribute to the team at this age since he has also not been scoring too many runs for last 2 years. He thinks he is still at the top of his game.

They were never treated as royally as Sachin and I dont think they had much of a choice. Am pretty sure they might have continued more if given as much leeway as Sachin was

I doubt Dravid would have been dropped straight after Australia tour. He would certainly have played test series against NZ and he might have had a decent knock or two in that series as his form in India was always good and with those knocks he would certainly have played against England too. Dravid's form in India was never in question, neither was VVS'. They had scored a lot of runs in their previous series at home against WI, were top 2 run getters for India. Though I dont want him to retire after WI series. If he plays that series, he should play SA test series too.

Sir, barring the England and WI series, Dravid for the large part of 4 years was also a part of the team coz of his reputation. He had been very poor against almost all sides barring the SL even in India I am not saying that Sachin would come up with such performances at the age of 40, but to paint everyone else in a sacrosanct picture is also not done.

I have mentioned the same so many times. Dravid averages around 40 after 2007 tour of England and to be fair, we did not see any replacement at that time and the blame goes to selectors to not be proactive. Right now, we have several players showing promise. Likes of Rohit has not played a test yet. Rahane got one test. I am not saying anyone was/is saint but at least, he understood and retired. SRT averaging 30 in last 2 years, cannot score even at home and those were wasted opportunities for the likes of Rohit and Rahane.

Maybe srt realizes how msd,don and their cronies are ruining indian cricket.....if he retires,they will walk all over everything. I mean c'mon jaddu and chawla walking into test squads over others,Raina ,vijay getting a test shot time and time again. Now I know jaddu has been doing well and so has vijay in the Aussie test series,but just because they have performed we can't overlook the fact how they got in the first place.

Badrinath was doing the rounds. I am not defending Sachin here. He should have retired long back. But, I agree with MTC.

why take it out ? also recent 15 tests give lot better indication than performance 2 years before infact in all away tours dravid did reasonably well to be persisted with yeah not at his best but there were good innings in between and current form of sachin is not comparable to that at all.

Sorry, IMO he did not understand and retire. He was made to retire. My point is not that Dravid's form was worse than Sachin or not. Dravid and Laxman were never going to get the same leeway as Sachin. yeh sab understanding, retiring for the team, sab bolne ki batain hai. Mauka milta to inka bhi career prolong hota

Particularly during 2010, Dravid had an awful patch while Sachin was in great nick. Yet there was no similar outpouring of hate for him. Dravid is the holy cow of this forum, the untouchable
