randomGuy Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Blame it on sapping humidity or the lack of tree-lined avenues and footpaths, but Mumbaikars don't like to walk for more than three kilometres a day. Delhiites and Bangaloreans fare much better on this count, finds a three-city survey to establish attitudes towards walking as a physical exercise in the country. The survey's findings show that Mumbaikars lag behind people in Delhi and Bangalore when it comes to walking for health reasons. Delhiites like to walk every day, while Bangaloreans walk simply because it is enjoyable. In contrast, Mumbaikars offer a host of excuses for their less-than- 3km habit (could have walked more if there was better security, need more walking stretches, the weather is terrible). http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/mumbai/Delhi-Bangalore-miles-ahead-of-Mumbai-in-walking/articleshow/23752050.cms So, do icfers walk?

hhunaeh Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Coimbatore and Chennai are miles ahead of Delhi and Bangalore in walking :--D How can people walk in chennai's weather?
hhunaeh Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Something related to this walking study i think. It has diabetes and hypertension numbers by state Deadly duo: Urban India battles diabetes and high blood pressure
Detonator Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Villagers are even further ahead of us city dwellers. Living in a garden is better than to live in box homes :icflove: Actually, what's the qualification to be called as a city dweller?
Detonator Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 How can people walk in chennai's weather? I think morning and evenings have better weather. Just google the weather and humidity details across the metros. I bet Chennai will have a better climate :giggle:
NareshK Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 I'm surprised anyone can venture out in Delhi or anywhere in North for a walk without fear of getting raped or mugged. This article is bogus.
Detonator Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 I'm surprised anyone can venture out in Delhi or anywhere in North for a walk without fear of getting raped or mugged. This article is bogus. "Chennai is hot" "Mumbai is dirty" "Everybody rapes u in Delhi" are simply the most cliche-sque statements. Not all are true dude. :icflove:
randomGuy Posted October 9, 2013 Author Posted October 9, 2013 Living in a garden is better than to live in box homes :icflove: Actually, what's the qualification to be called as a city dweller? There is no clear qualification. Difference in walking habits between urbanized areas to non-urbanized areas is what I meant.
Clarke Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Relatively difficult to walk in Mumbai. My fellow bikers are honking away the pedestrians from the footpath, which is the only place they can move forward at 5 kmph since the entire road is jammed :haha:

Its harder for people to find a reasonable walking-stretch.
