div Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 He looked short of time against mitch but at 19 probably has not faced such pace ' date='he will only get better.Nothing like english looked against mitch though:giggle:[/quote'] It was not a typical Indian pitch ,looked more comfortable than Yuvi,Raina and Jaddu...Mitchell Johnson is in the form of his life.:winky:
Vijy Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Samson and Zol need time. Our batting is doing quite well, and there are plenty of experienced and reasonably talented performers. Let's focus more on our bowling. We need quality pacers and spinners, and most importantly we need a genuine allrounder.
FischerTal Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Samson handled Mitchell Johnson better than the Pommies. :cantstop: Good signs already :agree:
Vijy Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Samson is too impulsive. He isn't Test-match ready though he deserves chances even now in the T20s and ODIs (perhaps).
Ghost Buster Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 He needs 2 or 3 A'tours before bringing him to india team. If he performs well on those tours then certainly he can be selected. But i want him to also work on his wicket keeping skills. We need a better replacement for dhoni.
fineleg Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Dont bring Samson for Tests, ODIs or T20. Leave him to play domestics, A-tours (and the useless ipl) etc for a full 2014 year. Lets look after the year is completed on whether he deserves a spot for T20, ODIs or Tests.
Crookbond Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Samson is too impulsive. He isn't Test-match ready though he deserves chances even now in the T20s and ODIs (perhaps). You can expect that from a 19-year old. He's no Tendulkar.
jusarrived Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 The thing is you get touchy feely when someone questions why the likes of vinay koomar or other karnataka trundlers get selected. But you have no issues in making arrogant assessments based on faff all proof when it comes to other cricketing talent!! Probabaly you fail to notice that its not just Vinay ....am one of the few guys who supported jadeja , Rohit , Dhoni or even Ishant who have been unfairly critisized on this site . I may or maynot rate these players , but what am against is the class less abuses and conspiracy theories against these players . Samson I dont rate , but I would not call him a SOB etc
jusarrived Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 You can expect that from a 19-year old. He's no Tendulkar. But hes been hyped up as the next tendulkar . One Indian fan said that hes the best young indian talent ? Is he better than KL Rahul , Jeevanjoth , Mandeep etc ?
jusarrived Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 It was not a typical Indian pitch ,looked more comfortable than Yuvi,Raina and Jaddu...Mitchell Johnson is in the form of his life.:winky: You can keep giving excuses , but the fact is he looks poor against quick bowlers ..his technique against short ball is as bad as Rainas , a very similar stance just that hes a right hander . Just go through yesterdays match against Pak ..even the U-19 bowlers where targeting him with short balls & he had more than half a dozen edges, top edges .miscues etc
jusarrived Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 ^ I guess he defected to RR along with Dravid ' date=' not many true RCB fans left in forum now., May be this year they will comeback :nervous:[/quote'] Still with RCB .

Just go through yesterdays match against Pak ..even the U-19 bowlers where targeting him with short balls & he had more than half a dozen edges, top edges .miscues etc May be you have never seen Rohit Shamra's top edge sixes, edges are part and parcel of T20 cricket. 27.3 Salman Saeed to Samson, 1 run, short ball, pulled to deep midwicket 27.6 Salman Saeed to Samson, 1 run, short ball again, Sanju swivels around and pulls it to deep square leg 29.6 Salman Saeed to Samson, 1 run, short of good length, played late and fine to thirdman 31.4 Salman Saeed to Samson, FOUR, short ball, Sanju swivels around and hooks it to fine leg, cant bowl short on this track!! 38.5 Zia-ul-Haq to Samson, no run, short ball, Sanju on his backfoot, gets an edge one bounce to the Keeper 40.3 Zia-ul-Haq to Samson, 1 run, short ball, into the ribs, mistimed pull shot to midwicket 42.2 Zia-ul-Haq to Samson, 1 run, off stump ball, banged in short, late cut to thirdman 42.6 Zia-ul-Haq to Samson, 1 run, short one again, lazy pull shot to midwicket
NareshK Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 ^^Samson is a good, young batsman but facing those under 19 bowlers is quite different from facing Johnson, Steyn, Morkel and other test class bowlers. He should play more FC cricket, A tours. He still has a lot to learn and hurrying these kids into international cricket prematurely will only derail that process and it wont be good for them.
skindia Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 let him play on A tours else so that we can know is he another chand or really genious
King Tendulkar Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 let him play on A tours else so that we can know is he another chand or really genious WTF that is so harsh on the young chand Chand is still outstanding prospect. So much hate cos has a personality and wrote a book:giggle:
Texan Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Needs some more A-tours. He's only 19. Seems like a likely successor for Dhoni.
The Outsider Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I don't get it. The guy does not keep in FC cricket and we have multiple posters vouching for him for a spot in the Indian team as a keeper. :dontknow:
Vijy Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I don't get it. The guy does not keep in FC cricket and we have multiple posters vouching for him for a spot in the Indian team as a keeper. :dontknow: Perhaps they see him as a successor to Dhobi the ODI batsman. Samson does not keep regularly, and should not be made to do so - whatever little I saw of his keeping in IPL looks shoddy.
bulbul Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 ^ If some one doesnt keep,he wont become automatic successor to current keeper.
