Obviously plants do not have the sense organs that most animal life forms do but does that mean we dismiss every perception of emotion they may have. Plants also emote - they respond better and grow healthier in environments that are more conducive to them. Similarly they die quicker when they are surrounded by pollution. I guess the problem we are facing with is that of understanding perceptive qualities of life forms that do not agree with what we ourselves experience. Just like in the case of plants we are not sure about some animals too, for ex jelly fish, sponges, etc. In any case it is a very interesting topic to intellectualize upon. On a personal level I find it difficult to accept that a life form does not emote. I'd think it is more likely that we do not understand how a particular life form emotes rather than the life form not having the ability to emote.

Scientists haven't found any way through which plants could be feeling pain/distress/emotions. At worst, we can say that we aren't sure as yet and that may be there's some mechanism other than the nervous system by which plants feel pain which scientists are yet to find. But we are quite sure about animals feeling pain.

If I talk about myself, there is no 'issue' when consuming plants but there would be an issue if I consume animals knowing that I could lead a healthy life even by consuming just plants as well as the fact that vegetarian food is quite comfortably available in India due to large arable land.

They eat sunlight from top and feed on dead/decaying matter like dead insects, worms and borrowing moles from bottom. Krills are the only vegetarians in the entire earth, since they eat plankton, which produces their own food using minerals.
