vvvslaxman Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Weird topic.. i am just trying to compile large chases that went awry somewhere... Let me start with one http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/247478.html 2007 world cup Australia vs South Africa Played at Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts Australia 377/6 SA 294 all out In this match SA was rocketing along until that fateful run out of ABDV They were 160/0 in 20.5 until that run out. Then Smith retired due to cramp at 184.. as usual great Kallis killed whatever momentum they had. They slided from that point.
vvvslaxman Posted October 30, 2013 Author Posted October 30, 2013 http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/64557.html Epic partnership between Azhar and Jadeja. Jadeja 119, Azhar 111 not out. They came very very close to winning and lost by 2 runs. Azharuddin 111 in 117 balls just 5 boundaries !!! That is incredible. They should have won after getting to 287 for 4 from 64/4
Vilander Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 lol i remember that match...lol good topic but were there any other such matches..
vvvslaxman Posted October 30, 2013 Author Posted October 30, 2013 http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/64300.html Even though the total is only 299 but it was a 40 over match. It was back in the 80s. Asking rate of 7.47 was unimaginable rate those days. Srilanka made a great fist of it. Mahanama was inconsolable on the ground after getting run out for 98. Running between the wickets was astonishing. He scored 98 in 91 balls just 7 boundaries !! One of the greatest run chase i have seen live.
rageaddict Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Would the match in which Tendulkar scored 175 count here ?
vvvslaxman Posted October 30, 2013 Author Posted October 30, 2013 Would the match in which Tendulkar scored 175 count here ? Ofcourse.. that is definitely up there. We came very very close to overhaul it.. that is on par with Inzamam's epic attempt at chasing down India's 349 and fell short by 5 runs.

Srilanka chasing 400 odd against india. fell short by 4 runs cant recall if it was rajkot or nagpur.Every match where pak is chasing.
vvvslaxman Posted October 30, 2013 Author Posted October 30, 2013 Srilanka chasing 400 odd. fell short by 4 runs cant recall if it was rajkot or nagpur. Ya that one too... Zak and Nehra woke up from deep slumber bowled brilliantly at the death. They were cruising by 38th over.
coffee_rules Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/430886.html India 415. SL 316 for 1 in 36.3 overs. 100 runs needed in around 14 overs, 9 wits. Lose the match by 3 runs. 15 needed of 12 . Still lose. Epic fail
rageaddict Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 This one www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/66157.html It was the finals where India scored 307 and Sri Lanka were 272/4 in 43.2 overs with De Silva batting at 110. India still managed to win by 6 runs as Lanka got All out at 301
vvvslaxman Posted October 30, 2013 Author Posted October 30, 2013 http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/416240.html Tendu match http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/64880.html Inzamam match

India still managed to win by 6 runs as Lanka got All out at 301 Remember this ajit agarkar bowls a fulltoss on jayasuriya's legs and he gets out.
vvvslaxman Posted October 30, 2013 Author Posted October 30, 2013 http://www.espncricinfo.com/cbs/engine/match/249230.html This could have been a great run chase.. requiring over 80 runs in the last 7 overs.. McCullum and Oram scored 76 runs and NZ lost by 8 runs.
coffee_rules Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/416240.html Tendu match Only Watson , Voges and McKay from that side 3 years back.
rageaddict Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/64661.html Target : 320, India were 193/1 in 27 overs with SRT at 93* and 79*, both set batsmen departed in next two balls.
rageaddict Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Two " So Close yet so far " chases by Zimboks. www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/65612.html www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/65650.html
rageaddict Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/65561.html Epic match. This was the first time I saw a team fighting against all odds to turn the impossible into possible. NZ nearly achieved a miracle that day. Target : 301 and NZ were 97/5 at 24.2 overs but they didnt stop there and almost did it in the end. Lost by just 2 runs.

Target : 301 and NZ were 97/5 at 24.2 overs but they didnt stop there and almost did it in the end. Lost by just 2 runs. The ball hit the boundary rope on the full and was rightly called four, but it was bad luck that it landed where the rope overlapped itself, presenting a wider target. Had the ball carried the centimetre or two further, it would have been six, levelling the scores with one ball to play. from the report wow
rageaddict Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/416236.html Anyone remembers this ? India were out of the game , for only to be brought back thanks to a 9th wicket partnership of 90 runs in 9 overs between Bhajji and Pravin but India still lost when they needed only 8 runs in the last over.
