Old guy Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 shami ahmed too has performed really well when he gets these kind of green tracks . if you are not picking up 5 wicket hauls at ranji level you will notbe good enough for tests but mohit should def play odis as he keeps things very simple and looks calm..
Old guy Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I always thought any ball which takes a wicket is wicket taking ball :hmmmm2: you rcb fans deserve vinay...
Old guy Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I am talking about an ideal combination. BK or Mohit might or might not do is a different thing no one knows. An ideal combination have three different kind of good bowlers. One like BK who swings the ball and can contain and bowl accurately when conditions are not helpful, one like Yadav who can bowl around 138-140 and even more if needed and one a good left arm pace bowler who can bowl around 135K or a good tall bowler like Morkel or Finn, etc. Pollock had Donald and Nitni both 140 plus bowling with him. Same with Philander. Asif was tall and also could seam the ball, a different entity altogether. Cannot compare him to BK or Mohit who both are short bowlers. We have BK and Yadav along with Shami. Shami has decent pace and seams and swings the ball both ways. Pandey is there too who is taller and swings and seams the ball. Mohit is a good choice but he will need to gain at least 5-6k of pace as he neither gets extra bounce nor has swing of BK. so basically what we need is . bhuvi/zack, shami/yadav ,pandey/ishant ? play the ones who are in form and fit :P
adi B Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 dhawan nohit chepu sachin kohli rahane dhoni ashwin ojha bhuvi umesh this should be the team, the bowling attack looks potent..pishant should never have been picked
express bowling Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Mohit can swing it too.and also move it off the seam actually BK is predominantly inswing bowler which is less likely to work.Mohit gets nice shape on his outswingers too BK swings as well as seams the ball. Prior to the current series, he was skidding the ball too. This series that skid is missing. As a result, he is still economical but a bit down on wickets. One thing I liked about Mohit in the last Ranji game was that, as long as swing and seam movement was available, he was pitching the ball up and trying to use that. But , when the conditions became less favourable , he hit the deck hard and got good bounce and troubled batsmen. Having both these weapons bodes well for a pacer. As, of now, as Bhuvi is actually taking wickets in international games, I would prefer him.

We need bowlers who can seam swing the ball at around 85-87 mph with good consistency, not 80-82 mph as we have plenty of them already.
express bowling Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 There seems to be consensus among most posters here that Umesh, BK, Shami and Pandey would be our best 4 pacers for tests. That means we are 3/4 there with only one change remaining. Personally, I would like Aaron , when fit, to be the 5 th pacer.

express bowling Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 We need bowlers who can seam swing the ball at around 85-87 mph with good consistency' date=' not 80-82 mph as we have plenty of them already.[/quote'] You know that I am one of the strongest supporters of pace + skill. I would like 85 to 93 mph pacers if available. The point I was trying to make was that a pacer who can pitch the ball up to get movement as well as hit the deck hard and get bounce when no swing is available, has more weapons in his armoury. Most goods pacers today can do this.
express bowling Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 zack needs to be there if fit His ability to stay fit thoroughout a series is in doubt.
Lord Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 if you have seen any of guys you mentioned you will know they had lot more skills than mohit and we have many bowlers who are quicker than 132 k atleast.. shami is now clocking above 140 easily so he improved and pandey has height and much better wicket taking deliveries also extra 5 k's which can be handy .. put thing in perspective ..he got 11-12 wickets on patta while mohit gave normal performance on green track.. Pandey bowled against Tripura(?) nobodies whereas Mohit bowled against lot better batsmen. Dont think Pandey swings the ball in to RHB.hes mostly outswing bowler whereas Mohit swings it both ways.Pandey's height is an advantage though. Dunno how you define wicket taking deliveries,to me if you are accurate and have swing that too both ways, you'll trouble most batsmen

Old guy Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 last season pandey got 5 wicket haul against mumbai on a patta.. so that is that :winky:
express bowling Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I am hearing so much about this guy Pandey. Would like to see him in action when he is in full flow. I saw him in the ROI match. He looked tired and not bowling with full effort.

He looked tired and not bowling with full effort. in last match he got 11 wickets all either bowled or lbw or caught behind by keeper ! :hysterical: his team scored 500 there and rest of bowlers of his team got 5 wickets on same track.. i am not hyping him but he should be next guy debuting for india..he might not be world class but he is probably best we got who has not yet debuted .. anyway his height will give him advantage and he has great out swinger ..even i would love to see him bowl now :two_thumbs_up:

All our better pacers are medium or short in height for pacers, namely Umesh, Shami, BK, Aaron. We need a good tall pacer.

Ibes Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 If they drop Ishant that means that we can finally root for a team that does not exist on paper only.
express bowling Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 we already have ishant no ? :D I said , " good tall pacer " and not " dumb tall loser " . :--D
