in odis with 2 new balls its must be bit different but i can assure you majority if wickets will be in his first spell or within first 20 overs

something for him to work on. Probably needs some new variations outside the new ball bowling times. He already is a handy bat down and order and a good fielder so atleast there is some added utility there

Yes Ashwin does seem to have put on weight, also seems to be in the one day, was not flighting the ball much. On the other Hand Ojha is a little fitter and is bowling better. Will be interesting to see if he gets picked for SA. Ashwin will obviously be there for his batting and Jaddu should be a certainty as well.

I don't think Warnie was exactly a six pack guy. His ability has nothing to do with his weight. He can turn .. but not rip like Swann or Murali whether he is lean or fat. Ojha even when he was fat he bowled no different. You can pivot even if you are overweight.

For Ashwin, the bit of fat does seem to be affecting his bowling. Was watching videos from Aus test series, looked slimmer. I will admit though that such things become visible only when a player is struggling, so maybe I am over analyzing.

HIs fatness may hamper his running at best. But he did say something about gaining weight fast. Probably poor metabolism.

A unique thing about bhuvi is quite regular in picking wickets with new ball in test..fast bowlers on subcontinental wickets are rather ineffective with new ball and wait for the ball to get old for reverse swing..In the recent two-three years i have never seen a bowler as effective as Bhuvi with new ball in subcontinental wicket..

Ojha was bowling better than Ashwin for most of the day today ... especially the first two sessions. However, they both were not even close to the level they showed during the last two years especially in home games. Spin is slowly and slowly getting worse for India. Lets hope we get Rasool in the side soon if these two don't improve. Then again, we are hardly playing anything at home in next one and a half year. God knows if the West Indies tour scheduled for next year will go on or not. I guess LSRK was correct when he said India needs a spin coach soon.

Ashwin is only 6 wickets away in the next 2 tests from becoming the fastest Indian to get to 100 wickets. Why are we breaking our head over him.

I am not writing them off but its a fact that they were bowlng much better lines and lengths when West Indies were here in 2011. Plus, I am slightly irritated with the negative line Ashwin keeps on bowling to the right handers which he has been doing more since the England series last year. This probably might be a good line in ODIs but i think he should bowl more from over the wicket.

Weak or Strong they have won home series for India barring the Eng series. Good enough for me. And in that Eng series Ojha had 20 wickets in 4 tests, Ashwin struggled for a couple of tests, the bigger problem though was the batting which hasn't been so poor in a home test for a long long time.

Ashwin basically has cashed in on some weak spin playing line ups. Not saying he should be dropped. Most want him in the test side. But most critic comes from his limited overs performances. After these two tests you have SA, NZ and England away. There is a good chance he is going to break the average of 30 barrier in those series.

Why not play 4 quick bowlers if conditions are so bad for spinners ? I mean we do not have some one like kumble who is bloody accurate and will stop runs even away from home so what is the point of Spinner ?
