Few factors contributed to the decline of Munaf 1. Biggest one was injury and once he got injured he was never the same bowler he was when he started 2. Bad fitness - he is probably the most unfit fast bowler from the recent times. 3. BAd attitude - guy really had a big attitude problem. did strange things like go missing around selection time. He would really lose his head during ODI's 4. Bad management - as with all indian fast bowlers there is no focused mentoring and too many people give wrong advice on action etc.

That is a reason why S.A are not worldbeaters in LOI's-T20 WC and WC,steyn just doesnt have the same amount of mometum when he plays these tournaments. Also unfortunately,SA doesnt have a huge pool of backups like Aus/Eng either

As I mentioned above,that was a very smart move.....Munaf is not a good enough athlete naturally to last long enough but kudos to him for extending his career. RKT maentioned natural talent but I still think with munaf(obviously every international cricketer has some amount of natural skill) it is more to do with hardwork,the pressure of internationals and the strain he wouldnt have lasted long enough at the same level he performed against eng and in WI

He did not last long enough eventually even doing all this. He could have earned more in IPL if he had bowled the way he did initially. Hardly any team was interested in him in last auction. He did not even care about IPL where he had to bowl 4 overs per much.

ishant is bad example as even he until recently did not play that many odis but all the other bowlers fit this and i hope dhoni manages them well now even n matches they play a fast bowler should not be bowled for 7 overs on trot (like bhuvan ) unless he is in some exceptional rhythm

Ishant has played more ODIs than those. He was just not picked for ODIs later on.

Ishant sharma is not crap because he played more ODIs. He is crap because he bowls short and wide and has no discipline at all despite having all the ingredients of a good fast bowler.

He bowls that way because he has too many technical flaws. Biggest one is he bowls on toes.

Agree with last 3, not first one. Munaf di dnot have any serious injuries after his debut. He had more serious injuries before his debut. he had two shoulder surgeries even before he made his debut, both injuries happened while fielding, but he still bowled fast. Munaf is more of a case of mental fragility and mismanagement.

This. People are coming with reasons like Steyn didn't play much t20 is all bull. Steyn is just better bowler. Period. He kept playing for Bangalore when he was part of them for few years and did play every world t20 tournament. He's just missed one of or 2 match 2020 series whenever South Africa is playing with someone. Ishant and many Indian bowlers have continued to be poor at working their skills up. Just been a trend for Indian bowlers.

Steyn has played 29 out of 49 T20, since his debut in WT20 2007. He has missed last 7 SA T20s due to SA policy of workload management. Yes - Ishant Sharma is not as a good bowler as Steyn but one of the possible reasons is workload management.
