King Tendulkar Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Deserves a thread:two_thumbs_up: Well done, great achievemnet being fastest Indian to 100 test wickets:hatsoff:
saneindian Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Wonderful achievement. Congrats Ashwin. Now for some good performances away from home as well
Laaloo Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Woeful average away from home but only played in 3 matches so will discount that. Horrible series against England at home which has been the only good team he has faced. I have no doubt that he will pick up wickets in SA. Let's see how he does in England next year. Wonderful achievement nonetheless.

Wonderful achievement nonetheless. agree but difficult to judge his overseas record. As he played overseas so far when team has been woeful and not getting runs on board. Spinners do need runs overseas on the board to play with. i.e look at kumble. Kumble was mediocre overseas but as soon as dravid sachin and laxy started piling on runs, suddenly kumble started doing well overseas Next year we will find out about Ashwin more overseas, as have a feeling batting line up will get scores on the board, so no excuses then
Magneto Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Ashwin continues to be a great minnow-basher. Still an awesome achievement. Hope he has many more to come. :hatsoff:
Detonator Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 91 wickets at home :hmmm: Anywayz it's a great achievement , no one done it as fast as him for a long time so :hatsoff:
King Tendulkar Posted November 14, 2013 Author Posted November 14, 2013 91 wickets at home :hmmm: really:((

Detonator Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 really:(( yeah.. I guess that would be a record too.. fastest to reach 100 wks in home :--D
maniac Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 :hatsoff: congrats...Aswin and fast ironical but still think he has it in him to be the next mini-Kallis
Magneto Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Someone has to bash minnows too.. else minnows would ve bashed us :(( I like good minnow bashers. No harm at all. Would appreciate it more if he can reach the next level now. :agree:
cricketpitch Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Ashwin just played 3 tests away from home and it was in Australia. Murali averages 80+ there and Ajmal 111. That does not mean that they are horrible bowlers. Let us give Ashwin at least a year before we pass judgement and call him HTB and minnow basher. Harbajan and Kumble did not have great overseas record either but were never ridiculed as much as Ashwin is. Just appreciate what he has achieved and what happens in future can be taken as it comes. Pujara had poor tour to SA and all his runs are scored in India but still all Indians don't bash him.
maniac Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 I like good minnow bashers. No harm at all. Would appreciate it more if he can reach the next level now. :agree: I think he will bat better than some of our young batsmen against tough bowling attacks and will bash minnows and average batting sides in bowling....Overall will have a decent career :nice:
Laaloo Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 I like good minnow bashers. No harm at all. Would appreciate it more if he can reach the next level now. :agree: Yup same for Kohli as well

The next 12 months with so many overseas tours will reveal all about many of them
vvvslaxman Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 In 83 years no one has done that. Congradulations. India has never whitewashed a top team like Australia in any era. He helped achieve that. Let us stop discrediting with "minnow basher" tag.

vvvslaxman Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Also against spin England is a horrible side generally. If he had done well against them he would still have been considered a minnow basher lol. HTB etc etc.

It simply means that the cricketer does not give an inch to a weak opponent. It would however be derogatory, if someone is 'only' a minnow basher.

Look at Bhaji, stellar servant for India for a decade, tons of wickets, yet gets hate
